I'm a Páidín from Tullabhadín.
I've got money and acres of land.
I'm looking for a honey, with a bit of money.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm yer man.

I like the ceili, and the Stack of Barley.
I like the waltzes, the oul jigs and the reels.
I like swinging, when Big Tom is singing.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm your man.

And I'm off to Lisdoonvarna at the end of the year.
I'm off for the bit of craic, the women and the beer!
I'm awful shifty for a man of fifty.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm yer man!

I've got a brother; he's in the Gardaí.
I've got an uncle; he's up there in the Dáil.
He's quite a charmer, Geez, a mighty farmer.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm yer man.

Now to conclude and finish my story,
If there's a young one, looking for a man,
Take the bus from Bearna, down to Lisdoonvarna.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm yer man!

And I'm off to Lisdoonvarna at the end of the year.
I'm off for the bit of craic, the women and the beer!
I'm awful shifty for a man of fifty.
Catch me if you can; me name is Dan; sure I'm yer man!

I think the air is the same as an American country called "Turn Out The Light, Love Me Tonight" or something like that.

From memory it's something like......
I'm a Páidín
From Tullabhadín
I've got money and acres of land
I'm looking for a honey, with a bit of money
Catch me if you can, me name is Dan sure I'm yer man.

Chorus
And I'm off to Lisdoonvarna at the end of the year
I'm off for the bit of craic, the women and the beer!
I'm awful shifty for a man of fifty,
Catch me if you can, me name is Dan sure I'm yer man!

I've got a brother, he's in the Gardaí
I've got an uncle, he's up there in the Dáil
He's quite a charmer, he's a mighty farmer
Catch me if you can me name is Dan sure I'm yer man.

Chorus

Now to conclude and finish my story.
If there's a young one, looking for a man,
Take the bus from Bearna, down to Lisdoonvarna
Catch me if you can etc......

Chorus

I tried to position the chords over the words/syllables, but it didn't turn out that way. Sorry for confusion. Better to listen to the song.

The correct title is CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, and Brakn is closest to getting the words "right." I haven't heard the song in probably 15 years, but I remember that Brendan Shine recorded it. You can find the song on at least one of his albums (The Brendan Shine Collection). Here's a website to check out.

www.irishmusicmail.com/acatalog/irishmusicmail__Brendan_Shine_702.html

I think the chords go something like this:

       C F
I'm a podjean, from Tullawodgean
(or I'm a culchie from Tullawulchie)
C D D7 G
I've got money and a - a -cres of land
G7 C F
And I'm looking for a honey, with a bit of money
C G7
Catch me if you can, me name is Dan
C
Sure I'm your man.
G G7
And I'm off to Lisdoonvarna
C G C
At the end of the year
C
I'm off for a bit of craic
D7 G7
The women and the beer
C
And I'm awful shifty
F
For a lad of fifty
C G
Catch me if you can, me name is Dan
C
Sure I'm your man.
I'm not at my piano, so the above chords are off the top of my head. I think they're pretty close, though.

Let me know.

This is what I have transcribed for this song from the CD "Irish Songs You Know And Love", this song is sung by Hugo Duncan on this CD
The red parts are wrong or I am not sure about it
Now I'm a-parting
From toll a wild thing
I've got money
And I've a wee bit of land
And I'm looking for a honey
With a bit of money
Ah catch me if you can,
My name is Dan
Sure I'm your man.
I like the caley
And the stacks of barley
I like the waltzes
And my jigs and the reels
I like the swinging
When big Tom is singing

And I'm off to Lisdoonvarna
At the end of the year
I'm off for a bit of craic
The odd woman and the bear
And I'm off this shifting
For a lad of fifty

I've got a brother
He's in the Garda
I got an uncle
He's way up there in the Dail
He's quite a charmer
He's a mighty big farmer

Now to conclude
And to finish my story
If there's a young one
Out there looking for a man
Get the bus from Barna
Down to Lisdoonvarna
