I am taking the catamaran Lewis and Clark from Jantzen Beach to Astoria tomorrow...leaves at 7 p.m. Fairly expensive but should be wonderful. It docks, I believe, at the Maritime museum around 11:30 a.m. I will have to eat right the minute it docks because I start to pass out by then if I haven't. But if anyone nearby (Amergin??) wants to join me on the ship or meet for lunch and either a tour of the town or spend time in this really great museum, just show up. I have wanted to do this my whole entire life...and tomorrow is the day.. mg

It was really beautiful. I grew up in Longview, Washington...and the river is owned by the port and the lumber and paper mills....you have no sense of being on the Columbia...although we used to go to Cathlamet, etc. a fair bit....it was quite interesting seeing my home town from its river perspective....ugly as all getout I must say but it did have the biggest lumber mills in the world at one time...the Maritime museum in Astoria is always fun to visit...they are in the process of remodeling and expanding and it should be much better...open to the river more....I am applying for just a little weekend job selling hot dogs or whatever on the boat....mg

That is cool! I haven't been to Astoria since I left there a year and a half ago....I am glad to hear the museum is expanding...that is one of the best museums on the west coast!!! I love just spending a day there! Glad to hear you had a great time!

By God, you still live and (I'm sure) breathe!

It has been a long time since Chicago in 1966.

email me: coyotl@fidnet.com Down here in the river hills of Missouri.

Tom
