Subject: MUDCAT MIA????? From: Charley Noble Date: 04 Jun 01 - 01:00 PM What's up with Mudcat? If we only knew, we might even be willing to help, send dollars, send prayers, find a life... |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: Max Date: 04 Jun 01 - 01:39 PM I think one of those rare occasions when 50 people all get the idea to check the Mudcat all within the same second. It's kind of like the 1913 Massacre. Too many people try to get through a door at once, and they all got stuck. Not too much I can do (afford) to prevent it, but it was just that it happened over a weekend in which I was not here to reboot Shorty. A couple of folks have my cel-phone # for when this happens, but I got no calls. Oh, well, I'm very sorry, I don't like when that happens. Thanks for your patience. |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: MMario Date: 04 Jun 01 - 01:48 PM Max - I don't know about the others - but there are damn fews things I can think of that would make me disturb your weekend or bert's or any of the other elves. You all deserve your weekends off. Likewise I'm not gonna get antsy for at least a couple hours monday mornings mudcat time - hell, you have a business to run. |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: gnu Date: 04 Jun 01 - 07:57 PM Hey man, I took a (this past) weekend off for the first time in over five years. Of course, I had my cell with me, just like you, Max. Although, I turned the sucker off after about 1700h each day. When I tried to get on the Cafe on Sunday morning after returning from the beach, I was remiss to find things in disarray. I really needed some banter to bring me back from the sessions that went to 0200 Dark Hours Friday and Saturday night ( & probably longer, but we gnu's need our beauty sleep ), complete with large bonfires and people playing different tunes at three points around the fires. I really missed reading the comments of the 'Cats I have come to know in such a relaxing and calming venue as The Mudcat Cafe. SURE GLAD I SENT MY DONATION IN SO I CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE BANTER at my liesure.... leisure.... leesure.... PLEASURE !!!!! Have YOU sent your pledge in yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: Irish sergeant Date: 04 Jun 01 - 10:16 PM I missed the hoopla. I was in 1861 all weekend. (Hated coming back) I'd have blamed it on the computer or my server. Have a great week. Kindest reguards, Neil |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: Big Mick Date: 05 Jun 01 - 09:25 AM I was performing this weekend, and came in all geeked about reading comments from 'Catters. But she was down. And as badly as I wanted to read it, and with Max's cel number, I wouldn't bother you on a weekend for ANYTHING. The thing that many forget, and many more don't, is that this site is not a right of our, nor is it an obligation on Max's part. It exists because a great human being started it as a way to experiment with and showcase his software and it grew into a community with a worldwide audience. Max expends great amounts of his own capital and his personal time to keep it going, out of love for what it has become. He is ably assisted by Pene, Bert, Joe and clones, MaryMac et al. who are working for the same wages - none. If it goes down on the weekend, it is a pain in the arse. But to disturb Max and company so I am not inconvenienced..........that ain't gwine happen. Enjoy your weekends, and we will be fine, buddy. Mick |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT MIA????? From: Max Date: 05 Jun 01 - 12:29 PM Its really not that big a deal to call me. My office is 2 blocks from my house, and directly above my watering-hole-of-choice. I'm around more often than not, but if I am away I can call one of the elves who also lives in town. I'll try to set something up to make it easier for all of us. This site is my baby, and I want it running well and all the time. I'll sacrifice a few minutes of my weekend to get shorty back in action. |
