*Here begins a desperate cry for help* I need the lyrics to "Tae the Weaver's Gin Ye Go", which I heard on a sampler CD. Performed by Andy Stewart (but not Silly Wizard :( ). Liner notes say it is recorded on At It Again. I can get most of the lyrics, but I'm missing a few crucial lines -- like the chorus. If anyone can help me withthe missing lyrics, also what is the origin of the tune -- Andy's, traditional, or otherwise. Many thanks in advance.

Any collection of Robert Burns song and poems will have it.

Most books have indices by first line, so: Note "To the weavers gin ye go fair maid" is actually the first line of Burns' chorus and the song title. The song commences "My heart was ance as blythe and free, As summer days were lang".

Copies of the song with music are 'Scots Musical Museum', #103; James Dick's 'The Songs of Robert Burns' #19; and James Kinsley's 'The Poems and Songs of Robert Burns' (3 vol. edition) I, #194.

Bruce, are you doing what I was doing a few months ago, which is using the Reload button on you browser? That'll cause a repeat of your post every time. Just click on Show Threads again when you want to reload.

There is a web page with Silly Wizard and Andy Stewart lyrics which has among other lyrics most of the lyrics from the At it again record including "Tae the weavers..."
