Just to remind everyone that Beverley Festival begins tomorrow and that Sam & Ian will be there and are due to play on Friday night in the leisure centre. On Saturday night Sam's birthday party will be in Nellies (White HORSE) presumabley upstairs. Sam and Ian will be instantly recognisable -they are old grey wizened types with a slight American drawl. See everyone over the weekend.

Sorry to put you right, but God's country is Northumberland - and the Romans kindly built a wall across the south of it to keep everyone else out! Having just spent a weekend there running a song workshop with Sandra Kerr we can both vouch for its entitlement to this credit.

With the excesses of travel, good food and company Sam Pirt will now be celebrating his 75th birthday next weekend. See everyone around next weekend - I shall be in the Sun and Nellies but I am not camping because frankly I am an old woman and after several weekends of camping on the trot I am feeling completely haggard!

Ickle dorrit, Sadly your history teacher failed miserably, I'd sue if I were you. God's county lies to the West of your county. If your history teacher were as wise as he or she should have been, they would have gently, very gently, have explained that Yorkshire came...............second. The Queen is the Duke of Lancaster, thats cos we won, the Queen being the head of the Church of England, thus by proxy, viz a viz the Popes relationship to God, is Gods nearest thing to a representative in Albion. Therefore as she represents Lancashire thus LANCASHIRE is Gods County. Sorry to spoil the illusions of your misguided education

Shame but we're holding our annual day of dance in Poulton-le-Fylde LANCASHIRE (The country God didn't forget!!!) :-)

(see the "Mucatters welcome in Lancashire thread") and anyone who can't make Beverley and require a musc/dance fix will be more than welcome.

I was in contact with Alan Bell (Fylde Folk Festival Director) and he was looking forward to the Beverley Folk Festival

Have a great there time one and all.......

'Tis a wee bit oot o' me way, to be sure!

Quite a few of "A'nt Mahtha's" Ancestors hailed from around Wales and Scotland - the only one of mine that I can document got captured at the Battle of Dunbar in 1650 and shipped over to the Saugus Iron Works as an indentured servant.

We hope to get over there some day to pay our respects - but it probably won't be this year!

Have a lovely festival!
