Subject: East Ontario: Celtic Arts Fest From: Willie-O Date: 06 Jun 01 - 09:21 AM Coming up soon in and around beautiful downtown McDonalds Corners Ontario, on June 16 and 17 our local community arts group presents Labyrinth 2001 Celtic Arts Festival. We've got some great music and other stuff as well. The big-ticket music booking is the brand-new Pierre Schryer Band, who will be performing at the McDonalds Cors Agricultural Hall at 8 p.m. on Saturday June 16. Pierre's got a brand new ensemble this year, billed as "Canada's hottest Franco-Celtic sensation". Tickets to this show are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. See www.meraschoolhouse.org for more details and directions. Advance tickets will be on sale all day Saturday at The Schoolhouse, where most festival events take place. Admission to all other parts of the festival are free, so we really need to get folks out to the concert/dance. Other performers on Saturday are Irish-Canadian story-teller Owen McBride, Scottish Country Dancers and etc. On Sunday, there's the craziness at the waterfront: the Great Coracle Regatta and the Catapult Contest. No kidding, every handy person in Lanark County (except me) has been building a catapult, its tapped some weird mechanical creative streak in our local psyche. On Sunday afternoon starting about 4, we're having a pub back at The Schoolhouse, featuring the trad Celtic music of Charles De Lint and MaryAnn Harris, then a session, and finally our stalwart house band The Bubonic Plaid will be putting plaid to the festival account. This is going to be one whoop-it-up! Contact me for more info. McDonalds Corners is one hour west of Ottawa, about 20 minutes north of Perth & Hwy 7.directions and a map are here on the MERA website. Subject: RE: East Ontario: Celtic Arts Fest From: Clinton Hammond Date: 06 Jun 01 - 03:44 PM :-) He sure is one hell of a fiddle player... easily one of canada's best... Too bad he doesn't have the commercial success that a lot of less adept players have these days... He certainly derserves it... |

Subject: RE: East Ontario: Celtic Arts Fest From: Marion Date: 06 Jun 01 - 10:56 PM Other performers on Saturday are Irish-Canadian story-teller Owen McBride, Scottish Country Dancers and etc. Hey, you've hidden the best part of the festival in an et cetera (well, the best part other than Schryer and the flinging of stuff and the pub and dancing and storytelling and so on)! The Perth Fiddle Orchestra, of which I am the newest member, will also be performing. So you all have to come now. Cheers, Marion (not making a catapult either) |
