I have had a request from a very very old lady for the words of a song that was very popular many years ago, it was very dear to her for sentimental reasons and she would dearly love to have the full text.

It was very well known and widely sung, I simply cannot remember the words butI am sure that somebody out there will be able to supply them withouth any difficulty. I can only remember the words of the first line..It starts with:

'When you come to the end of a perfect day,

When you come to the end of a perfect day,
And you sit alone with your thoughts
While the bells ring out with a carol gay
For the joy that the day has brought,
Do you think what the end of a perfect day
Can mean to a tired heart,
When the sun goes down with a flaming ray,
And the dear friends have to part?

Well, this is the end of a perfect day,
Near the end of a journey, too,
But it leaves a thought that is big and strong,
With a wish that is kind and true.
For memr'y has painted this perfect day
With colours that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day
The soul of a friend we've made.

I can have a go at the ABC for you if you need it.
This is one of my favourites, too.

Dear Willa,

I scarcely had pressed the 'submit message' button
when Sorca had sent not only the words, but also
the sheet music.

Thanks again for the thought.

Slan...........Frank

No jeffp,

Jim has been pleading with me for such a long time to
teach this class that on account of his advancing
years, and the fact that I hate to see a grown man
cry so profusely as he clutched my knees that I
finally acceded to his request. I hope that I can rely ,br> on your discretion in this matter and I of course
will presume that this information will go no further than you and I.

Slan........Frank

Umm there’s a second verse to this song

A PERFECT DAY
Words and Music by Carrie Jacobs-Bond (1862-1946) ©1910.

When you come to the end of a perfect day,
And you sit alone with your thought,
While the chimes ring out with a carol gay,
For the joy that the day has brought,
Do you think what the end of a perfect day
Can mean to tired heart,
When the sun goes down with a flaming ray,
And the dear hearts have to part?

Well, this is the end of a perfect day,
Near the end of a journey, too,
But it leaves a thought that is big and strong,
With a wish that is kind and true.
For mem'ry has painted this perfect day
With colors that never fade,
And we find at the end of a perfect day,
The soul of a friend we've made.
