Subject: RE: Shanty Festival Whitby next weekend!! From: Charley Noble Date: 13 Jun 01 - 08:39 PM I love vicareous confusion. I thought festival and concert producers in Maine were the only ones to create great line-ups without confirming the performers.;-) |

Subject: RE: Shanty Festival Whitby next weekend!! From: Les from Hull Date: 12 Jun 01 - 06:05 AM They do spring these things on you, don't they, George? Maggie and I'll be in Beverley, but the Grand Turk is well worth seeing. We saw her when she was in Hull, but I'm sure that she'll look more at home in Whitby. Have a great time! |
Subject: Shanty Festival Whitby next weekend!! From: Tyke Date: 11 Jun 01 - 06:51 PM The Tall Ship The Grand Turk is due to arrive in Whitby Next Weekend I found out whilst at the Robin Hoods Bay Folk Festival last weekend. I also found out that Coblers Monday are booked to appear in what is billed as Whitby's June Shanty Festival. It was a bit of a surprise to Coblers Monday as Mick Haywood only chanced to see the poster in the Tourist Information Office on Thursday. The poster also said that a free programme of the weekends events was available inside the office however they did not have any left. Has any body any idea's of how to diplomatically suggest to the organisers that it might be a good idea to ask and confirm with the artists that they are available and willing to appear. We shall be there but I had visions off Camping at the Beverly Folk Festival and singing in Whitby. However here are a couple of links and to say that if there are no events scheduled for Friday Night I shall be at the Robin Hoods Bay Folk Club in the Dolphin and on Sunday Night at the Singers and Musicians Session in the Tap and Spile. Here is a link to the Grand Turk it was, as you will find, the Tall Ship used in the filming of the Hornblower Television Series http://www.turks.co.uk/tp/filming.html Coblers Monday's information can be found here http://website.lineone.net/~georgeclarke2000/ Oh anyone got any ideas for a Saturday Night Session in Whitby? |
