Subject: Lyr Add: O'BRIEN HAS NO PLACE TO GO (Murphy/Evans) From: Jim Dixon Date: 22 Sep 13 - 11:23 PM From the sheet music at Baylor University. I have boldfaced the words that are different from those posted above. O'BRIEN HAS NO PLACE TO GO Words by Stanley Murphy, music by George Evans. New York: Remick, ©1908. 1. Dinny O'Brien has three daughters fine, The prettiest girls on the block; And 'twixt you and me, each night after tea, the boys to the O'Briens' they flock. Young Marty Clancey comes 'round to see Nancy, While Tim McCann calls upon Rose; And when Eddie Kelley drops in to see Nelly, With this plea to papa she goes: CHORUS: Don't go into the front room, Dad, Nancy's in there with a caller; Daddy dear, won't you stay out here, Rose has her friend in the parlor. Don't go into the kitchen, Dad, I'll be out there with my beau; Since each of his girls has a steady young man, Sure O'Brien has no place to go. 2. Saturday night, O'Brien was tight, And says to himself, now we'll see; If three young galoots, dressed up in dude suits, Make a wandering Jew out of me. So out went McCann on O'Brien's brogan, While Marty and Ed feeling sore Went over the stoop like an acrobat troupe; Now O'Brien hears this plea no more: CHORUS |

Last Saturday night, O'Brien got tight, And he says to himself, now we'll see; If three young galoots, dressed up in dude suits, Make a wandering fool out of me. Out went McCann on O'Brien's brogan, Mickey Kelley and Clancey got sore; They went over the stoop like an acrobat's troupe, Now O'Brien will hear this no more. Does anyone know the words to "O'Briens got no place to go"? Some of the lyrics are "don't go into the parlor dad, Joanies in there with her beau, don't go into the kitchen dad, I'll be in there with my fella." Any help would be appreciated a lot. Thank you, Bernie Feeney (I'll go look) |
