Subject: How best get a site reg'd with Yahoo? From: Scabby Douglas Date: 13 Jun 01 - 07:04 AM I'm having problems getting a site I created for our Club registered with Yahoo, excite, Google, etc.. Can anyone suggest a cheap (i.e. free) way to make this happen. I've filled in so many submission forms now I'm starting to dream about them, and yet in the immortal words of "Colossal Cave" - "NOTHING HAPPENS..." What am I doing wrong? Any thoughts, experience, comments?

Subject: RE: Help: How best get a site reg'd with Yahoo? From: hesperis Date: 13 Jun 01 - 09:01 AM I heard it can take up to 6 weeks for yahoo to go through the process of geting your site actually in the database. They don't use crawlers, they manuially list every site. That's got to be a HUGE job! Google uses crawlers, which is why it's actually a better search engine than yahoo. My site for Between the Worlds was crawled on May 20, I looked at my counter stats and saw spiders... then a couple of days later, someone did a search for a couple of my keywords and came to the site! The site has been up since April, and I didn't do any submissions to the search engines, only to witchvox. So, get your site linked to by friends and medium sized internet directory sites, have accurate keywords in your meta tags, and wait for yahoo to get around to approving your listing. Meanwhile, the spiders will collect your info, and that'll help get you some traffic while you wait. Good luck. ~*sirepseh*~ (Off to check your site out now...) |

Subject: RE: Help: How best get a site reg'd with Yahoo? From: SeanM Date: 13 Jun 01 - 04:40 PM Yahoo CAN take forever. My site took around half a year from inception and submission to listing - AND IT IS ON THEIR BLOODY SERVER. Good luck, and have patience - but if you're REALLY desperate, poke around and find a good ad spider program. My roomie had one that guaranteed it would auto-submit sites to around 300 different listings. Of course, he was doing porn sites, so I doubt that particular one would be of use to you... M |
