Subject: Lyr Add: PRINCE CHARLES (Jim McLean)
From: Wolfgang Hell
Date: 19 Dec 97 - 10:04 AM

The thread „My father he was Orange..." gave me the idea to post this. It use the same melody and start of the lyrics. It is a transcription from the singing of Alastair MacDonald. I think I got it right with the exception of one place name.

Wolfgang

PRINCE CHARLES

Chorus: Oh, it is the greatest mix-up that I have ever seen,
his father is a German and his mother is a Queen.

1. Oh, he is the Prince of Wales, although he’s England’s future King
and his granny is the daughter of a Scotsman’s Highland fling.
His aunt in Holland is a niece of Norway’s Royal pair
and if they all died in their beds, he’d be the Belgian heir.
His father’s mother came from Greece, his aunt’s Bavarian
and himself he wears the tartan of the Royal Stuart Clan.
His second cousin’s Danish, at least that’s what he thinks,
for surely Queen Victoria must be the missing link.

2. His mother she is English now or Scottish in (Caleen)*
Canadian in Canada and German in Berlin.
His cousin’s niece is Swedish and his uncle’s wife is Greek
and he himself must surely be an international freak.
King Billie was a Dutchman and King Jamie was a Scot,
but the Prince of Wales just doesn’t know if he is here or not.
Our King won’t come from London town not yet from Donegal
nor will he be from Scotland for we’ll have no King at all.

* phonetical spelling; stress on the last syllable

add: my guess is that Alastair MacDonald has written the lyrics, but I have it only on tape with no notes.

Thanks too. I always especially liked the 'missing link' line with all its (Darwinian) connotations.

I don't think I've seen that one before.

Jim, you're brilliant.

Any chance of a song for next year's royal event?

Thanks Jack, maybe my song 'Maggie's Waddin', written on the marriage of William's great aunt to Armstrong Jones, could be updated/parodied?

Yeahh. We ought to have a rash of songs taking the piss out of the royals. I have no objection to Prince Charles being as cosmopolitan as he is. But is this supposed to be a BRITISH royal family? I hardly think so.

Subject: Lyr Add: CORONATION CORONACH (Morris Blythman)
From: John MacKenzie
Date: 22 Dec 10 - 08:45 AM

Thought this might just go along with the theme.

Coronation Coranach.
by
Morris Blythman [aka Thurso Berwick]

Tune The Sash

Noo Scotland hasnae got a King,
An it hasnae got a Queen;
For ye cannae hae the second Liz
When the first yin's never been.

Chorus:
Nae Liz the Twa, nae Lllibet the Wan --
Nae Liz will ever dae!
For we'll mak oor land republican
In a Scottish break-away.

Noo her man's cried the Duke o' Edinburgh --
He's wan o yon kilted Greeks.
Here, but dinnae blaw my kilts awa,
For it's Lizzie wears the breeks.

He's a handsome man, an he looks like Don Juan;
He's beloved by the weaker sex.
But it disnae really matter a damn,
For its Lizzie signs the cheques.

Noo her sister Megs got a bonny pair o legs,
But she didnae want a German or a Greek.
Puir auld Peter was her choice, but he didnae suit the boys,
So they selt him up the creek.

Here, but Meg was fly, and she beat them by and by
Wi Tony Hyphenated-Armstrong
But behind the pomp an play, the question o' the day
Was, who the hell did Suzy Wong?

Sae heres tae the Lion, tae the bonny Rampant Lion,
And a lang stretch tae its paw.
Gie a Hampden roar, and It's oot the door,
And ta-ta tae Chairlie's Maw.

Old ones always another airing.
Whilst being studiously ignored by a resident in an old peoples' home, Prince Charles gently asked "Do you know who I am?"
The reply came "Ask Matron, She'll know".

Or - in the paediatric ward he asked a beautiful young her name.
"Petal", she replied "When mummy was pregnant, a rose petal fell on her tummy, and that inspired her to call me Petal."
The name of the next was Pansy for the same reason.
Finally, a hideously ugly young girl replied to the same question, "Breezeblock".

Cheers, Davy.

Now Winifred Ewing's in trouble
For telling how we're in the hubble
She's our MP's have got the DT's
And spend all their time drinking doubles!

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

She's says they are aye on the batter
And politics just disnae matter
But Hannon MP, says he is TT
And aye toast Queen Lizzie in water

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

Way doon in the borders there’s Davie
Who swears that he never drinks heavy
He might lose his sense and then fall off the fence
So Davie steers clear of the bevvy

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

And then there's that Scotified limey
He's sober but sleekit and slimy
For after a dram he's Thomas not Tam
Instead of hootsmon it's cor blimey

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

So Willie's teetotal
With a nose that looks pregnant and mockled
He's aye on the doss fae Berwick to Ross
That bulge at his hips a hauf bottle

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

Now Winnie dinnae be silly
And blame them nice men on the telly
For Scottish MP's drink nothing but tea
For whisky's too Scotch for their bellies

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

MP's, Scottish MP's
Your time's up now gentlemen please.

Thanks for posting that, Independence Fan, but I call the song Singing the Booze and the 4th verse begins:
But wha could say Wullie's teetotal,
Wi a nose that looks pregnant and mottled ...

A few typos but not important.
