Hey, y'all...I just ran across a really great band: Eddie From Ohio. They're from the Washington D.C. area, and play truly wonderful original folk-esque music. They do a few traditional numbers as well, particularly old-time gospel. I just saw them live at a small venue in Chapel Hill, and...wow! They play -very- well, and their harmonies are absolutely phenomenal.
Anyway, since a search of the Forum and Digitrad turned up nothing on them, I thought I'd send y'all forth to check them out. Their earliest album is "Actually Not", and is a good one to try, but the newest stuff is really great, as well.

I've never seen them live, but I have a few of their CDs. Great chops, a fun sense of humor, and a very creative outlook. I recommend them highly.

Oh, Whistle Stop, you GOTTA see 'em live! Eddie on his various and sundry drums is phenomenal. The whole group is fun to watch and, of course, fantastic to listen to.

Well I just ordered a copy of "looking out the fishbowl" -- partly from you guys's recommendations, and partly because any group that would use a photo like that must be at least 75% okay.

Alex

*grins* Very true, Alex.
And Eddie and the drums really -are- amazing...I swear, there were times I couldn't see his hands! Pieces of drumsticks flying everywhere once he got to the regular drum kit, too.

I can heartily recommend "The Portable EFO Show" double cd. It does give a taste of their live show but SharonA is right about seeing them live.

For east-coasters, they were at New Bedford Summerfest last year, and I believe they'll be there again this year - July 7 weekend.

YES,YES,YES!!! Absolutly go SEE these folks. They are the best live. I first ran into them as they were opening for Great Big Sea in Northampton, MA. They are now headling all their shows there. Very creative songwriting, lots of influences and funny as hell! Check out the web site for tour info. Also for East coasters (usa)they will be on the main stage at the Falcon Ridge Folk Fest this summer. Any group that can come up with a song about being busted by the lifeguard at a pool for underwater peeping is tops in my book! Hope everyone gets to enjoy them soon. Have a great summer all. Knappo
