I used to love Perry Como songs when I was little...Andy Williams too..and Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr, Dean Martin.

And now, I'm singing along with them all over again, working in The National Trust, as they have loads of their songs on their 'nostalgia' CDs which we play each day, although I normally smuggle their 'English Folk Songs' one into the CD player these days, or a bit of Ralph Vaughan Williams, when the rest of the 'girls' aren't looking. ;-)

I also had the most terrible 'crush' on Rock Hudson, but that's a whole other story. :0)

Right...back to Perry.....

This is "The State Song" I have a recording of it by the Hall Negro Quartet from 1936. I looked and it is on iTunes.

This reminds me of a game my then-8-year-old stepson and I used to play, making up riddles about states. That is, I made them up and he tried to solve them. For example, "What state is married? Mrs. Sippi." "In what state do mathematicians live? Pencil-vania." "What state has lots of cars? Road Island." Well, I didn't say they were great....
