What's your Medieval Personality?

The Dreamer-Minstrel might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You can always see the "Silver Lining" to every dark and dreary cloud. Look at the bright side is your motto and understanding why everything happens for the best is your goal. You are the positive optimist of the world who provides the hope for all humankind. There is nothing so terrible that you can not find some good within it. On the positive side, you are spontaneous, charismatic, idealistic and empathic. On the negative side, you may be a sentimental dreamer who is emotionally impractical. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

Hehehe, I'm a "Minstrel"... hehehe.
What are you?

This was what I got:

The Prime Minister might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You are a strategist who pursues the most efficient and logical path toward the realization of the goal that you perceive or visualize. You will often only associate with those people who can assist you in the implementation of your plan. Inept assistants may be immediately discarded as excess baggage. To do otherwise could be seen as inefficient and illogical. On the positive side, you can be rationally idealistic and analytically ideological. You can be a bold decision maker and risk taker who can move society ahead by years instead of minutes. On the negative side, you may be unmerciful, impatient, arrogant, impetuous and impulsive. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

The Benevolent Ruler might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You are the idealistic social dreamer. Your overriding goal is to solve the people problems of your world. You are a social reformer who wants everyone to be happy in a world that you can visualize. You are exceptionally perceptive about the woes and needs of humankind. You often have the understanding and skill to readily conceive and implement the solutions to your perceptions. On the positive side, you are creatively persuasive, charismatic and ideologically concerned. On the negative side, you may be unrealistically sentimental, scattered and impulsive, as well as deviously manipulative. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

... It's good to be the Queen!

Holy sheepshit....

Your distinct personality, The Shepherd is to tend to your human flock. You understand the needs of those for whom you are responsible. Shepherds are vigilant and reliable. You realize your obligation and commitment to the well being of those entrusted to your care. Shepherds are very dependable. You engender a feeling of comfort and stability to those within your charge. On the positive side, Shepherds can be empathic, caring, understanding, practical and realistic. On the negative side, you may be close-minded and sentimentally rigid.

Well hell I'm a White Knight.

"Your distinct personality, White Knight, might be found in most of the thriving kingdomes of the time. Don Quixote was a White Knight as was Joan of Arc, the Lone Ranger and Crusader Rabbit. As a White Knight you expect nothing in return for your good deeds. You are one of the true 'Givers' of the world. You are the anonymous philanthropist who shares your wealth, your time and your life with others. To give is its own reward and, as a White Knight, you seek no other. On the positive side you are merciful, sympathetic, helpful, giving and heroic. On the negative side you may be impulsively decisive, sentimental and misdirected."

Oh great, misdirected, so what else is new?

Well Little Hawk I'm supposed to be anonymous with my philanthropy so how would you know?

But some of the rankings they ask for are strange. If you're a baseball fanatic then which comes first: the moving emotional experience or a good ballgame? If you're a fanatic then a good baseball game IS a moving emotional experience. Weird....

Soph - Not just a tad sentimental? Not even a shred? I thought you were philanthropic because you went to that demonstration...that's idealism in action, I'd say. I call it social philanthropy. I doubt that you will ever see me at a demonstration...there's something about it that just totally doesn't connect with my way of being. I write about injustice instead...hence I am a minstrel.

The Discoverer, might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. Your overriding goal is to go where no one else has ever gone before. Regardless of the number of available natural problems to be solved, it is not unusual for you to continually challenge yourself with new situations or obstacles that you have created. You are an insatiable explorer of people, places, things and ideas. You thrive on constant change and anything new or different. On the positive side, you can be creatively rational as well as open minded and just. On the negative side, you might be an impractical and indecisive procrastinator. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

Many years ago there was a period of time that is often casually called "Medieval." It was a time, so the story tellers tell us, of tiny kingdoms, brave knights and ferocious dragons.

Ferocious dragons? Actually I had thought it was a specific and real period of history.

You may say I'm a Dreamer. But I'm not the only one (apparently).

I wonder if there's something going on here? A bunch of folk musicians (or hangers-on), and a large plurality of us turn out to be dreamer/minstrels. Hmmmm.

The Black Knight: "Your distinct personality, The Black Knight, might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. Your overriding goal is to win. You approach each task or situation as a contest to be won strategically and efficiently. Because you can control your feelings, it is not unusual for you to charm, as well as successfully delegate tasks and responsibilities to the more emotional types. You are often concerned with what's in it for you. You seldom involve yourself in activities where you can not foresee a reward for your investment or effort. On the positive side, you can be analytically empathic and logically persuasive. On the negative side, you may be unemotionally manipulative as well as arrogant, selfish and impulsive. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms."

Minstrel/Dreamers don't joust. But if you do joust, I'll be happy to sing about it.

Karen the Guest Took the Ribbon
by Minstrel/Dreamer Alex "The Mousethief" Riggle

Now listen good people, I'll sing you a song
It's really quite short, it won't take very long
About that great joust, before that great throng
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

She came into the lists to a fanfare and gong
She was wearing the latest 12th-century thong
She was lovely and agile and remarkably strong
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

The dreamers and minstrels were singing a song
The benevolent monarchs all looked along
The shepherds and peasants made up the great throng
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

The fanfare was sounded, a hush filled the crowd
The White Knight named Lyndi-Loo shouted aloud
And the horses' hoofs thundered, their heads high and proud
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

Their lances were leveled, their beavers were down
(And let no lewd puns from the pundits resound!)
And the mighty war horses' hooves tore up the ground
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

Then lances met shields with a deafening crack!
And Lyndi-Loo (sorry!) was flung on her back
And Karen the winner took one lap 'round the track
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

Now listen up, children, the moral I'll tell:
Be ruthless and cunning and practice like hell
Then you can win too like that day in the dell
When Karen the Guest took the riiii-bon!

PS yes, I know that charging horses don't hold their heads high. Shut up.

Great fun! Apparently I am a Benevolent Ruler.

Your distinct personality, The Benevolent Ruler might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

...where's my boat? I gotta go...

Well atleast I have the sense to be in good company. (With the Ladies)

That's if you use the SAME set of four answers on each question...

ie. Minstrel - 4123.
Question One:
First Choice: 4
Second Choice: 1
Third Choice: 2
Fourth Choice: 3
Question Two:
First Choice: 4
Second Choice: 1
Third Choice: 2
Fourth Choice: 3

...etc.

Dreamer-Minstrel. There are enough of us that all the benevolent rulers can have one court musician apiece. I play banjo and sing - old time country music. Any takers? I'm bothered by the part that says I'm optimistic. I'm a cop, I'm supposed to be cynical. ok, so maybe I am optimistic in that I keep hoping the public will stop doing stupid things like speeding, driving drunk, driving and talking on their cell phones, etc. By the way, what are the credentials for the person who made up this test? How do we know the results are valid? Hey, look, I'm back to my old cynical self, not at all like my description.

TRY A MINSTREL
-Andregor Starseeker
(Tune: unknown)

Don't follow a warrior with armour that shines
His attention's for fighting first, second for wine
You'll haul armour to please him and polish it fine
When you want your reward, he'll be snoring like swine!

CHORUS: But a minstrel is gentle, his touch it is light
He knows how to entertain throughout the night!
He's never too tired, or too bruised from a fight!
A minstrel's quick tongue can make you feel right!

Don't chase after a married man, 'twill soon make you tear
You'll be stuck in the closet when his lady is near
When the challenge is gone, you'll be dumped on your ear
But a minstrel can help you restore your good cheer!

Don't service a King, it's like fighting the air!
With a Kingdom to rule, you're the -least- of his cares!
His Throne and his glory won't be yours to share,
And you're -dead- if you bring him an unscheduled heir!

Don't sleep with the nobles, unless you've no pride,
They've one place for a woman, and that is inside!
From cooking and cleaning, you'll soon want to hide
Till a minstrel does find you and away you will ride!

Don't sleep with a Viking, let me tell you why:
Their swords are all rusty, their bed's never dry,
They'll leave for a year in the wink of an eye,
And you know they're not lonely when docking time's nigh!

Stay away from the rich men, they act just like boys
You'll never be more than just one of their toys!
They'll cast you aside if you make too much noise
A minstrel's soft caring is the sweetest of joys!
