Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Matthew Edwards Date: 28 Aug 01 - 06:01 PM For some strange reason I thought Llanstock 2001 had already happened so I was puzzled to see this thread still going. As the light has now belatedly dawned I realise I might still be able to come, provided I can organise my work rota. If I can make it I'll camp (assuming you can find a site Bron). It looks as though there are some good hill walks around - anyone interested in knocking off Cader Idris before breakfast on Sunday morning? I'd like to join Micca in an expedition to the Kingdom of Hay - a Mecca for bibliophiles. |

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 20 Jul 01 - 10:40 AM Looking forward to seeing you Andy Thanks for the advice on the zip, it will save me some embarassment, as the noise it makes sounds like a rapid emissiont of gas! Patrish |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 20 Jul 01 - 07:51 AM Patrish, take a bar of soap and rub the zip along it so there is a little bit of soap on the "teeth". Then open and close the zip a few times - it should go smoother and less noisy after that. Btw, I decided (no, my boss decided) that I can come! So I need:

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 20 Jul 01 - 05:10 AM I've told Julia to expect the trailer trash, she's already planning the breakfasts!!!! The landlord of the Red Lion is getting details of someone to do the bar at the Institute, and he will welcome any musicians in the pub. Probably won't turn the TV off, though. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 20 Jul 01 - 05:04 AM Has anyone any ideas on how to quieten a very noisy zip! Patrish |

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Liz the Squeak Date: 19 Jul 01 - 06:06 PM Remind us of the phone number for Pippins again please? Although if his snoring and her predilictation for sleeping between us in the starfish position don't improve, I may well be climbing in with Skipjack.... LTS |

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Skipjack K8 Date: 18 Jul 01 - 09:54 AM Bron, my playing improved significantly after sleeping with Sam last year, and the family are keen to hear yet more improvement! So, yus please, put me down for that nice bunk by the window. Game on. Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Grab Date: 17 Jul 01 - 07:36 PM Might be on for that - haven't had the tent out yet this year, so I'm owed a weekend somewhere rainy. If we do come over, there'll likely be space in the car for MudGuard, since Cambridge is only half an hour or so from Stansted. Don't know what Emma will think about this - the folkies we know are strange enough, never mind the one's we've never seen b4! - but anyway. :-) This isn't a definite BTW, just a tentative. The height of organisation for us is planning 2 days in advance, so don't look for anything too coherent! Graham. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 17 Jul 01 - 02:08 PM Liz, when I come over in August I will have my bicycle with me and need no transport. If I come in October, I will see whether someone going to Llanstock can pick me up directly. No need to hurry, some months to go... Terry K, thanks for the warning, I would never go anywhere on anyones motorbike - I think these things are extremely unsafe. MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Liz the Squeak Date: 17 Jul 01 - 01:23 PM Count us in... I don't take pillions yet, so we'll be in the car. Plenty of space for one. LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 17 Jul 01 - 11:05 AM Campervans can park at my mum's, where there is a sort of parking area overlooking the river. There is room for about 6 campervans, if carefully parked. Still working on camping!!! Cheers, Bron. |

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Linda Kelly Date: 17 Jul 01 - 05:49 AM I will say an almost definite count me in -this will only change if I leave my husband - er on second thoughts make it an almost definite. It will bbe me and John and room for 2 in the back Les? |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: KingBrilliant Date: 17 Jul 01 - 04:52 AM We'll come Bron!! We've got a big bell tent now, so we'd need about 14ft diameter space to put it if poss. Since Hamm is not ailing this year we won't be kicking anyone out of their bed this time! Kris |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Terry K Date: 17 Jul 01 - 04:01 AM Mudguard - just a word of warning - will you really be happy to go from Stansted to Llanstock on Liz's motorbike behind Manitas and the bratling? |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 17 Jul 01 - 03:15 AM Ok, Eric, you will sleep with the sheep OUTSIDE the barn. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Eric the Viking Date: 16 Jul 01 - 06:33 PM Yes, yes, yes-don't know whats on offer for sleeping yet, but will find out as time goes on. NOT in a barn with sheep-before Noreen says someting ! Cheers Eric |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Mrs.Duck Date: 16 Jul 01 - 05:18 PM We'd like to come please but won't try to squeeze in with Pippin we'll bring our own caravan! |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 16 Jul 01 - 04:44 PM I think Llanstock will take place in Llanfair Caereinion again this year. I'll book the institute for the whole weekend as a base, and arrange a bar. I'll check with the railway again for camping and caravans, and collect a list of B&B's. Dates, 12th, 13th 14th October. Cn I have a show of hands from people who are coming, please, so I can make sure there is somewhere for them to sleep. And don't forget, Pippin's caravan only sleeps 15!!!!!!!! Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Jul 01 - 04:30 PM Mudguard, if you are coming over to Stanstead, let us know and we can arrange transport as long as it isn't during the week.... or you give me lots of notice to work up flexi time..... Manitas and I are but an hour and a half away (well an hour the way I drive....) and can pick you up when you arrive and take you to a railway station of your choice, within reason (bearing in mind I have the directional talent of a dead stoat)... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 16 Jul 01 - 03:50 PM Eric, wish you lots of good cycling in Holland - I will be (as I wrote above) in Devon and Cornwall. MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Eric the Viking Date: 16 Jul 01 - 03:00 PM You bet,Mudguard. From stanstead a few of the Londoners may be able to pick you up, you could get a cheap? flight to leeds or Manchester, but not sure how much. Where are you going in August, we'll be cycling round Holland. Cheers. Eric-see you in October at Llangstock |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Noreen Date: 16 Jul 01 - 12:15 PM Not dead, Andreas- merely resting between festivals... definitely planning to be there, as are many others. See you there! Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 16 Jul 01 - 11:57 AM Just been to the travel agency (not for October but for my August holiday - I will be in Devon/Cornwall). But I learned that flights to Stansted are about half the prize of flights to any other UK airport! So if Llanstock will happen and I decide to come, I will fly into Stansted and hope someone will pick me up there. Or is Llanstock 2001 as dead as this thread? MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Letty Date: 01 Jul 01 - 09:28 AM I'll keep it in mind! Might have to work, but I would love to come... Letty |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Jon Freeman Date: 01 Jul 01 - 08:26 AM Raggytash, it doesn't look like a venue has been fixed yet. Llanfair/Bron (and the Red Lion) is in Mid Wales in Llanfair Caereinion which is about 10 miles West of Welshpool. Jon |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 01 Jul 01 - 04:34 AM Excuse my ignorance but where it this all happening, (apart from the obvious Mrs Duck I know it's over the border) |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 01 Jul 01 - 04:25 AM OK, progress has been made!!! I've talked to one of the bosses at the Light Railway, and they are definately interested in getting involved-I've even suggested a Folk Train and left them to think about it. I've a couple more people to talk to yet, but we should know for certain by the middle of July. I'm taking the Aged P's to Llandudno tomorrow for a few days, so won't be able to do any more till the weekend. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 29 Jun 01 - 05:33 PM Ok, it looks like transport from airport to wherever Llanstock is taking place will be no problem - if I really come. I will let you know early enough! |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 29 Jun 01 - 03:58 PM The next one is 19th July at the Red Lion, and I'll keep you posted about the next one in Llanfyllin. I still need to talk to some people before we finalise Llanstock. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Trevor Date: 29 Jun 01 - 06:36 AM Hello Bron, I like Llanfyllin - good atmosphere, a bit like BC. I'll be there if I can. When are your sessions now? |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Liz the Squeak Date: 28 Jun 01 - 06:29 PM If you can get to Stanstead or London City airport, there's a few from East London planning on going.... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 28 Jun 01 - 04:47 PM It is not yet decided whether I will come at all. As far as I know there are direct flights Munich to Birmingham but not Munich to Manchester. But I will check as soon as I have decided to come which flights are available. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Eric the Viking Date: 28 Jun 01 - 03:50 PM Hey Andy can ye get to manchester or Leeds/bradford easier? They are both nearer than Birmingham and you could arrive a day or more earlier. Let us know Cheers Eric |

Subject: RE: Llanstock From: MudGuard Date: 27 Jun 01 - 07:14 AM If I decide to come, could someone pick me up at Birmingham airport? And also deliver me back there? MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 26 Jun 01 - 05:55 PM So is it Ross or Llanfair? Ross'd be more accessible for public transport. It's a great feeling, sitting in a pub over a weekend, secure in the knowledge you haven't got a car within hundreds of miles. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Mrs.Duck Date: 25 Jun 01 - 05:53 PM You want to try one starfish and one ostrich Liz!!! We definitely want to get there this time. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Liz the Squeak Date: 25 Jun 01 - 05:22 PM Hey, Eric - I'll swap with you.... even a sheep has to be better than Manitas' snoring and the bratling who insists on sleeping in our bed in the starfish position..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Eric the Viking Date: 25 Jun 01 - 03:57 PM Just say where, now I know when. I suppose I'll have to be the one to sleep with Skipjack AGAIN!!!-What are the sheep like in the new places?-Not that Noreen will spread rumours about me this time. At least we can start of on the Friday night and Pat won't feel sea sick. Looking forward to it Cheers Eric |

But guess what........IT'S MY 21ST BIRTHDAY ON THE 13TH OF OCTOBER...COULDN'T THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO CELEBRATE!! The place 15 miles away seems a better bet to me....but who knows I've never venured into that part of the country. See y'all there Emma xxx |
Subject: RE: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 24 Jun 01 - 03:35 PM The session at the "new" Red Lion wasn't bad, and the landlord is very keen for the music night to continue. I haven't told him about the gathering yet. We are doing the Railway barbecue next Saturday- A trip on the steam train, then sing and play as the sun sets over the hills, to the background hiss and heat of the engine.- I'm going to see if they would like to be involved, they have space for caravans and camping, and a Folk Train would be good!! Still working on it, Bron. |

Subject: Llanstock From: Llanfair Date: 20 Jun 01 - 04:41 AM The viability of holding the second Llanstock gathering here will be decided over the next few days. The Red Lion, as you know, has changed hands, and the new landlord, Paul, has knocked the two bars into one. It is busier now, which is why we are holding our music night, the first since the alterations, this Thursday. We have no idea how it will go, and, at present, have no indication as to wether the gathering is something the new landlord is willing or able to take on. Buff, the previous landlady, has moved back to Ross-on-Wye, and has done some research as to the possibility of holding it there. Positive feedback so far. The other possibility is Llanfyllin, where we are doing the gig on Saturday. The town is ideal, and there are a lot of musicians there. Many people in the area live "alternative" lifestyles, and a gathering would. I think, be welcome. Ross is 2hrs south of here, Llanfyllin 15 miles north-west. Any thoughts on the subject would be welcome. Cheers, Bron. PS, the Red isn't doing B&B any more. PPS the date of the gathering is 12th 13th 14th October. |
