Subject: RE: cheese songs From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Jun 01 - 02:47 PM Bert: Your story about "imported" Romano reminded me of this: A certain buffet-style restaurant near here had 2 prices posted on its menu, one for "Domestic beer" and one for "Imported beer." I ordered a locally made "craft" brew. I was surprised to see that the clerk rang up the "imported" price. I said, "Hey, that's not imported!" He replied, "Yeah, well, we classify it as imported because it's expensive." |
Subject: RE: cheese songs From: mousethief Date: 27 Jun 01 - 02:53 PM Reminds me of the old saw about the Italian restaurant located somewhere outside of Italy. The owner was proud that they used only imported cheeses, "Much better than anything you'll get in Italy -- they use domestic cheese there!" Alex |

Subject: RE: cheese songs From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Jun 01 - 04:53 PM There are several web sites that contain a transcription of Monty Python's Cheese Shop Sketch. They must all derive from the same source because they all contain the same misspellings! It appears that the transcriber had no idea how to spell many of the varieties of cheese mentioned in the sketch, so he spelled them phonetically! LOL! Would you believe "Dorset Bluveny"? (see above) |

Subject: RE: cheese songs From: anasophia Date: 07 Aug 14 - 09:13 AM I'm surprised no one mentioned this song featuring the cheeses of Cheshire. Although it's mostly about a bear, and the cheeses seem to be thrown in as a afterthought, or maybe sponsored by the tourist board of Cheshire.http://www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm?SongID=1323 "The cheeses of Cheshire are famed, but beware..." |
