I have some demo songs recorded by my wife, which I would like to put on my web site. Can anyone recommend an MP3 encoder which can cope with 11kb/s mono wav files? The ones I have tried insist on higher sampling rates.

The freeware version of Musicmatch Jukebox will do it.

CoolEdit 2000 from Syntrillium is good. It's shareware, and quite cheap to register.

It handles various sample rates, and will re-sample if need be.

It converts WAV to MP3 and back again.

There are so many free copies of CoolEdit2000 on line that I'm always shocked when I meet anyone who's actually paid for it!

It's a pirates life for me!

arrrrg!

As a programmer, I shouldn't condone piracy! but b*gg*r*d if I can get anyone to pay for the stuff. Maybe there's a reason.

Thanks to all. My son eventually did it for me anyway! If you want to listen (to Lowlands of Holland or Sovay Sovay), try the music page at my site
