Can any of you 'Catters direct me to sites that have words (chords & tabs would be a bonus)for ragtime songs ? I'm especially interested in "good time" pieces suitable for fingerpicking. Thanks much.

I am never sure what people mean by "ragtime", and you didn't give any examples--If you want a ton of old standards, starting with Abbas Check this site,Jim Bottorff' Banjo PageHe has a lot of the old time songs, with chords and MIDI's, all set up so you can play along (and learn enough to sit in with his band, if you are ever in San Leandro)--

M.Ted -- that's a great site. I play some of those and want to learn others.

I'm not quite sure of a "ragtime" definition either, sort of peppy, turn of the century, syncopated pre-jazz stuff - not blues, although there is an overlap ?!?

Les, the following will keep you in Ragtime tabs for guitar for the next 20 years!
First, go to the TablEdit website, and download the program and then, go to this site and this one and download to your heart's content.

You want more, you let me know.

You're welcome GB.

Also, if you don't mind have another tab program sharing hardrive space with Tabledit, download a copy of Guitar Pro and then go to this site. There's a large selection of tabs and lyrics from such masters as Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, Sam Magee, Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy, Chet, Merle, Doc, Dave Bromberg, and tons of other notables.

Between all the sites I've listed, this is where I've gotten most of my tab collection. For the most part the tabs are accurate, and if nothing else, they're great for learning and understanding some of the fingerpicking styles these people used, and for stealing licks!

Enjoy Les.
(Like I said, there's enough good material between all those sites, to keep you busy for a very long time!)

J.P., Thanks. I dowloaded TablEdit once before but never got around to doing anything with it. This time, I'll get in installed and check out some of your referenced material.

Tablature has always seemd too labor intensive to me compared to working things out by ear but when you don't have any other source for the tune, it can be helpful.
