Help: Against the Wind TV Series theme

This series was on UK TV many years ago. I remember it was about the English being shipped over to australia on prison ships. it had a great theme tune, which i have played ever since, for enjoyment. Does anyone know who wrote it, please?

I had a law intern from the Chezh republic. One day she asked me about a whistle tune, and it turned out to be the theme to that... it played in the C R a few years ago. Boy did that bring back memories! I used to play that all the time, can't remember much of it, a mesure of the last phrase or so... did he ever put that out on a CD?
Barbora Kvochekova would be thankful, if I sent her a CD! (and for her great work on the behalf of Roma [gypsies] she deserves it!)

We had a thread on this a couple of years ago, but it was a generic thread title, I think, so it may take a bit of searching. The person asking about it was Scandinavian, I think.

Anyway, the lyrics and music were written by Jon English & Mario Millo, who played one of the lead roles, and is also a well-known rock/pop star from a decade or so ago, here in Oz.

The name of the tune is Six Ribbons, and I put it on
Alan of Oz's Mudcat Midi page

My sister and I have put it in our repertoire for flute & harp, for weddngs etc. Lovely tune, with lots of potential for interesting arrangements.

Are you sure that the tune is called 'Six Ribbons?'

This page would suggest that that's a seperate tune.

You could be right, Ed. It's a long (long, long) time since I saw the tv show. I always thought that it was the theme song, but maybe it was an instrumental.

My real answer is: now I have no idea!!
