Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I'm Always Chasing Rainbows From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 25 Nov 13 - 11:46 AM Those chords seem needlessly complicated. I wonder if the Hal Leonard corporation simply uses a computer to generate chords, because their chord notations often seem to ignore the possibility of letting the short-duration, unharmonious note drift by without a chord change. I've never liked this song, and I don't want to work out chords for the whole thing, but I want to tell other players not to get discouraged when they run into a 'Hal Leonard special' like F#dim7 where a simple Am would do. For example, I've been playing this on the piano, and this line: E7 Dm6 E7 Bm7 E7 Am E7 Am My schemes are just like all my dreams Can be accompanied by Am except for one little dip to Em on 'my.' Of course a little artful floatiness is called for, but it is Chopin, after all. |

Don't anybody tell Micca about this one...he's managed to ruin several beautiful tunes for me by putting words in my head. ;-) |

Forgot to note that the key signature is G. The version in the Combo-Orks book is for Eb instruments, so it is scored in E. The chord structure looks like it may be a little fancier, but I won't attempt to transpose it to make a direct comparison if the above is good for you. John |
