Would hanyone happen to have the lyrics for this song? I don't know if it would be considered a folk song but I think this site is my last hope of finding it. the song is featured in the new "Titanic" film by James Cameron. The song was written in/around 1910 by a Fred Fisher and Alfred Bryan. If you know the lyrics to this song, could you please email them to me? I am dying to know all of the words!

Please email to: oceans9@aol.com

Thanks in advance!!!

COME JOSEPHINE IN MY FLYING MACHINE,
Words: Alfred Bryan Music: Fred Fisher

Come Josephine In My Flying Machine,
Going up she goes! Up she goes!
Balance yourself like a bird on a beam,
In the air she goes! There she goes!
Up, up, a little bit higher,
Oh! My! The moon is on fire_
Come Josephine In My Flying Machine,
Going up, all on, "goodbye!"^^^

i only found the one verse in my "Fake Book of Everyone's Favorite Songs. The book is copyrighted by Hal Leonard in 1990, but I doubt that the song still has a copyright.

Joe- I love you dearly. Folks don't realize how hard it is for me to find tunes to all the wonderful lyric contributions they provide.

You're pretty good yourself, Dick. I would suppose you entered a huge number of the tunes that are in the database yourself, didn't you? I'm hoping we can recruit a few more "believers" to enter tunes. Alan's got the process down to the point where I think it's simple, but I guess it could be a bit daunting to those who have never seen a C:\> prompt (is THAT what they look like?).
Just got an e-mail from Torie Duda, who requested this song. She says she's looking for still more verses. Anybody got 'em? Sometimes, those old popular songs were just one verse, so maybe we have the whole shebang.

Joe- I strongly suspect that this is only the chorus part of the song: I'll do some digging for the rest (if any). The missing parts of a lot of "pop" songs are interesting: take a look at "Golden Wedding Day" and "Take Me out to the Ball Game" as a f'rinstance.

P.S. As a matter of fact, I guess I've entered some 3500 or so of the tunes. All help is greatly appreciated!

Yeah, Dick, I KNOW I've heard a verse to "Golden Wedding Day," but I can't find it anywhere. I'll keep looking.

Thank you so much for all your help, Joe and DIck... If you ever get a chance to see the movie, you'll understand why I wanted the song so much. I'm a big Titanic fan and the film is just incredible...having the song just really made my day!

Thank you sooo much! (Especially for the great midi file!!!)

I'm looking for the lyrics to the song "Come Josephine in my Flying Machine." Not sure of the composer, but the song was popular in 1912 (when the Titanic sailed and sunk). "Jack" sings it to "Rose" in James Cameron's "Titanic" movie.

If you know the lyrics, or where I can find them, please email me at: lcdamato@aol.com

Thanks a bunch!

There are verses to the song that we haven't posted. I saw them in a songbook from Dover Publications, but I just couldn't justify buying the whole songbook for that one song. Does somebody have those verses?

Well, I found one of those books you hate to return to the library, Music Hall Songbook, by Peter Gammond (EMI Music Publishing, 1975). It has only 45 songs, but they're the best of 'em. One word in the last line is missing, but otherwise it has a complete version of the song. I guessed on the one word. Corrections are welcomed.

COME JOSEPHINE IN MY FLYING MACHINE
Words: Alfred Bryan Music: Fred Fisher
Copyright © 1910, by Maurice Shapiro

Oh, say! Let us fly, dear.
Where, dear? To the sky, dear.
In my flying machine! Jump in, Miss Josephine.
Ship ahoy! Oh, joy! What a capture,
Say, boy, this is rapture.
Ho, high, hoopla! We fly in the sky so high…..
(chorus)
Come Josephine In My Flying Machine,
Going up she goes! Up she goes!
Balance yourself like a bird on a beam,
In the air she goes! There she goes!
Up, up, a little bit higher,
Oh! My! The moon is on fire_
Come Josephine In My Flying Machine,
Going up, all on, "goodbye!"
One, two, now we're off, dear.
Say, you? Pretty soft, dear,
Whoa! Dear, don't hit the moon.
No, dear, not yet, but soon.
Trust in me, I see you're a fly man.
Not me, I'm a sky man!
See? I'm up in the air about me, I'll swear!
(chorus)
I'm not sure about one word in the last line - up in the air about ___

Say, Don, it sounds like an interesting site, but the URL you posted led me to an error message. Can you check it again?
I found an alternate version of the second verse, and it makes a bit more sense:
One, two, now we're off, dear.
Say, you? Pretty soft, dear,
Whoa! Dear, don't hit the moon.
No, dear, not yet, but soon.

You for me, Oh gee! you're a fly kid.
Not me, I'm a sky kid!
Gee, I'm up in the air about you, for fair.

hey the lyrics are
Come, Josephine, in my flying machine
Going up, she goes, up she goes
Balance yourself like a bird on a beam
In the air she goes, there she goes
Up, up, a little bit higher
Oh my, the moon is on fire
Come, Josephine, in my flying machine
Going up, all on, good-bye

Oh say, let us fly, girl
Where, dear? To the sky, girl
Oh you, flying machine
Jump in, Miss Josephine
Come, Josephine, in my flying machine
Going up, all on, good-bye
i looked up when i first it and downloaded the song

There are so many different versions of the song. I know the Titanic version is much different from the original. Or the original might be what was played in the movie Titanic. Quite confusing, really. Well, this is what I got..

Oh, say! Let us fly, dear
Where, kid?
To the sky dear
Oh, you flying machine!
Jump in Miss Josephine
Ship Ahoy!
Oh, joy! What a feeling
Feels cold, thru the ceiling. Ho, high!
Hoopla, we fly! To the sky so high

(Chorus)

Come Josephine, in my flying machine
Going up, she goes! Up she goes!
Balance yourself like a bird on a beam
In the air she goes; there she goes!
Up, up, a little bit higher.
Oh, my! The moon is on fire.
Come, Josephine in my flying machine
Going up, all on, "Goodbye"

(Repeat Chorus)

One, two, now we're off, dear.
Oh, you, pretty soft, dear.
Whoa! Say! Don't hit the moon.
Oh, no, not yet but soon. You for me,
Oh, gee! You're a fly kid.
Not me, I'm a sky kid.
Gee! I'm up in the air about you for fair

(Repeat Chorus)

Or this version of the song..

Come Josephine in my flying machine
Going up she goes
Up she goes
Balance yourself like a bird on a beam
In the air she goes
There she goes
Up, up, a little bit higher
Oh, my, the moon is on fire
Come Josephine in my flying machine
Going up
All on
Good-bye.

Oh, say, let us fly girl

Where dear? To the sky girl

Oh you flying machine

Come please, please Josephine

Come Josephine in my flying machine
Going up
All on
Good-bye.
