Subject: RE: From: dick greenhaus Date: 31 Dec 97 - 12:18 PM Joe- I love you dearly. Folks don't realize how hard it is for me to find tunes to all the wonderful lyric contributions they provide. |
Subject: RE: From: Joe Offer Date: 31 Dec 97 - 12:41 PM You're pretty good yourself, Dick. I would suppose you entered a huge number of the tunes that are in the database yourself, didn't you? I'm hoping we can recruit a few more "believers" to enter tunes. Alan's got the process down to the point where I think it's simple, but I guess it could be a bit daunting to those who have never seen a C:\> prompt (is THAT what they look like?). Just got an e-mail from Torie Duda, who requested this song. She says she's looking for still more verses. Anybody got 'em? Sometimes, those old popular songs were just one verse, so maybe we have the whole shebang. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: From: dick greenhaus Date: 31 Dec 97 - 11:20 PM Joe- I strongly suspect that this is only the chorus part of the song: I'll do some digging for the rest (if any). The missing parts of a lot of "pop" songs are interesting: take a look at "Golden Wedding Day" and "Take Me out to the Ball Game" as a f'rinstance.

Subject: RE: From: dick greenhaus Date: 31 Dec 97 - 11:27 PM P.S. As a matter of fact, I guess I've entered some 3500 or so of the tunes. All help is greatly appreciated! |
Subject: RE: From: Joe Offer Date: 01 Jan 98 - 01:15 AM Yeah, Dick, I KNOW I've heard a verse to "Golden Wedding Day," but I can't find it anywhere. I'll keep looking. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: From: Torie Duda Date: 01 Jan 98 - 01:44 PM Thank you so much for all your help, Joe and DIck... If you ever get a chance to see the movie, you'll understand why I wanted the song so much. I'm a big Titanic fan and the film is just incredible...having the song just really made my day! Thank you sooo much! (Especially for the great midi file!!!) Torie Duda oceans9@aol.com |

Subject: come josephine in my flying machine From: lcdamato@aol.com Date: 27 Feb 98 - 08:25 PM I'm looking for the lyrics to the song "Come Josephine in my Flying Machine." Not sure of the composer, but the song was popular in 1912 (when the Titanic sailed and sunk). "Jack" sings it to "Rose" in James Cameron's "Titanic" movie. If you know the lyrics, or where I can find them, please email me at: lcdamato@aol.com Thanks a bunch! Lynn Damato Messages from multiple threads combined. |
Subject: RE: come josephine From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Feb 98 - 08:51 PM There are verses to the song that we haven't posted. I saw them in a songbook from Dover Publications, but I just couldn't justify buying the whole songbook for that one song. Does somebody have those verses? -Joe Offer- Messages from multiple threads combined. |
Subject: Lyr/Tune Add: COME JOSEPHINE IN MY FLYING MACHINE From: Joe Offer Date: 27 May 98 - 02:26 AM Well, I found one of those books you hate to return to the library, Music Hall Songbook, by Peter Gammond (EMI Music Publishing, 1975). It has only 45 songs, but they're the best of 'em. One word in the last line is missing, but otherwise it has a complete version of the song. I guessed on the one word. Corrections are welcomed. -Joe offer- COME JOSEPHINE IN MY FLYING MACHINE Words: Alfred Bryan Music: Fred Fisher Copyright © 1910, by Maurice Shapiro Oh, say! Let us fly, dear. Where, dear? To the sky, dear. In my flying machine! Jump in, Miss Josephine. Ship ahoy! Oh, joy! What a capture, Say, boy, this is rapture. Ho, high, hoopla! We fly in the sky so high….. (chorus)One, two, now we're off, dear. Say, you? Pretty soft, dear, Whoa! Dear, don't hit the moon. No, dear, not yet, but soon. Trust in me, I see you're a fly man. Not me, I'm a sky man! See? I'm up in the air about me, I'll swear! (chorus) I'm not sure about one word in the last line - up in the air about ___ Click to playABC format: X:1 Lyrics and tune added to DT in 1998 (click)

Subject: RE: Come Josephine in my Flying Machine From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Nov 98 - 08:35 PM Say, Don, it sounds like an interesting site, but the URL you posted led me to an error message. Can you check it again? I found an alternate version of the second verse, and it makes a bit more sense: One, two, now we're off, dear.-Joe Offer-

Subject: Lyr Add: COME JOSEPHINE IN MY FLYING MACHINE From: GUEST,Ashley Date: 20 Feb 07 - 03:36 PM There are so many different versions of the song. Let us fly, dear Where, kid? To the sky dear Oh, you flying machine! Jump in Miss Josephine Ship Ahoy! Oh, joy! What a feeling Feels cold, thru the ceiling. Ho, high! Hoopla, we fly! Up, up, a little bit higher. Oh, my! The moon is on fire. Come, Josephine in my flying machine Going up, all on, "Goodbye" (Repeat Chorus) One, two, now we're off, dear. Oh, you, pretty soft, dear. Whoa! Say! Don't hit the moon. Oh, no, not yet but soon. You for me, Oh, gee! You're a fly kid. Not me, I'm a sky kid. Gee! I'm up in the air about you for fair (Repeat Chorus) Or this version of the song..
