Hello all,

Once again I am a volunteer for this years festival. I'm playing sound techie (4th class trainee) at the kid's stage as well as organising the story telling castle in Folk Play.

Any other Mudcatters planning on showing up? I'll be in Folk Play during the days.

For info on the program click here.

Sophie, Heather and I will probably be up for Saturday.

A question. You are an especially fine traditional singer (and I know you don't toot your own horn) and I was wondering if Mariposa has ever asked you to play officially.

Rick

Umm... this year they decided not to have a stage for local performers. Instead they asked people to submit demos for their consideration for spots on the main stage. Out of all the submissions they chose 10 to be shown in a Talent showcase where judges and audience would choose 6 out of the 10. I don't have a demo and, at that time, the duo that I am half of was suspended for re-thinking so I didn't submit anything. I can't be asked if they don't know me so I've never been asked. I need to work on getting a demo together.

Thanks for asking.

Oh and also drop by Folk Play and say Hi! I'll be there with or without bells on.

When I was volunteering for Mariposa years ago, the Rule for the Sound Techies was "No Feedback" Good Luck. JohnB

Treat those techies well, they have MUCH POWER!

Thanks Soph. Something should be done about that....and will. You may be a "local artist", but skills-wise you should be heard, period.

Rick

THanks Rick, I'm a little overwhelmed.

This weekend I'll be storytelling and playing recorder but not singing (on stage at any rate).

big joe mufferlaw, Friday night has J.P. Cormier, Danny Michel, Tegan and Sara, Staggered Crossing, and Valdy and Gary Fjellgaard. Yo can decide if you like that or not. I'll be there in the audience somewhere.

Just got back real early (I did something to my back yesterday in Soccer and am having difficulty moving today. The painkillers made me very fuzzy.) from seeing the beginning of the festival. Seems to be going well JP Cormier did a lovely job on some tunes up there. Hope I'll be better tomorrow when I need to be.

See soem of you there!

Someone ought to take better care of Sophy. She's a gutsy soccer player as well as a great singer. Cormier is a Cape Bretoner. Did he sound fuzzy on painkillers?

No, he didn't. And he called me dear when I left the loo and he was next in line. I had a better day today. No free booze in the performer's area this year but free Massage Therapy! Oh boy that felt nice and the guy showed me a couple of good stretches to use in the future to avoid a repeat.

I got to hear Kate Rusby live tonight and she was lovely, really really lovely.
