Greetings! Have been trying to find the lyrics and chords for a song I heard on a Norman Blake album; God's Radio Phone. Can anyone help me? THanks, Dale

There's a song on the database called "Turn Your Radio On" which might be the one you're looking for.

Barbara, that's the one I was thinking of. It was by Albert E. Brumley, copyright 1938. It is on p. 3 of his 'All-day Singin' and Dinner on the Ground' songbook, copyright, 1972.

GOD'S RADIO PHONE
C C7
One day King Nebuchadnezzar,
F C
Constructed an image of gold.
C
Commanded the three Hebrew children,
G7
To worship the thing I am told.
C C7
They refused and were thrown in the furnace,
F C
But they did not go in there alone,
C
For they had connections in heaven,
G7 C
Over God's wonderful radiophone.
CHORUS: Call the station in heaven.
They will answer you soon, I am sure.
Tell them to give you Jesus,
The friend of the needy and poor.
He sits on the right hand of the Father,
On an editorial throne.
He'll answer, I'm sure, if you'll only endure,
Over God's wonderful radiophone.

When Elijah went up to Mount Carmel,
A minister's convention to attend,
The greedy professors and fakers
Were there from all over the land.
There arose a great question for discussion:
"Is it God that we obey all alone?"
But Elijah broke up the assembly
With fire from God's wonderful radiophone.

I only know these two verses. Could be more.
I put it in C but I think Norman plays it out of D on his record.

It is on Norman & Nancy Blake's While Passing Along This Way album, Shanachie 6012, 1994, and is credited to Wade Mainer. The only real difference from Cam's version that I hear is "Is it God or Baal that we alone" or maybe "Is it God or Baal that we'll own". Neither makes all that much sense. I like the Baal part, though, maybe it should be "Is it God or Baal that we obey", but then it doesn't rhyme. Those are the only two verses on this version as well.

"God or Baal that we'll own..." own in the sense of 'acknowledge,' as in "own up" to something. Also, the throne is "mediatorial" (not 'editorial,' which doesn't make much sense) since Jesus is our "only mediator and advocate." It's in the O.E.D. I don't have the record anymore, but I also remember:"To worship the thing we are told;" They had connection with Heaven;" "The D.D. doctors [doctors of Divinity] and fakers were there from all over the land;" a question arose for discussion"[scans better]; "With thoughts from God's radiophone."

Thanks to Dave Gardner for the clarification. I listened to Blake's recording on Spotify, and confirmed his corrections, and add a bit more:

To summarize, here's how I hear it:

Verse 1 line 4: To worship the thing we are told.
Verse 1 line 7: For they had connection with heaven,
Chorus line 5: He sits at the right hand of the Father,
Chorus line 6: On a mediatorial throne.*
Verse 2 line 1: When Elijah went up on Mount Carmel,
Verse 2 line 3: The D. D. professors and fakers
Verse 2 line 6: Is it God or Baal that we'll own?

* It's possible that Blake mispronounces this, but I'm convinced the intended meaning is "mediatorial throne," which seems to be a common term in theological writings. Google Book Search finds 282 books that mention it:

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&hl=en&q="mediatorial+throne"

The Nebuchadnezzar story is from Daniel 3

The Elijah story is from 1 Kings 18 : 20-40
