Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Big Tim Date: 11 Jul 01 - 03:52 PM Donegal. Derrymacash: I'm a big Shane MacGowan fan but I often wonder what County Hell (Tipperary) folk think of him. I visited the Kiwi Bar in Nenagh recently and Shane was highly thought of there, well he would be, he put that noisy little dive on the map didn't he! I also went into the pub next door (can't remember the name), much quieter and Shane generally regarded as a bit of a nutter (drunk at Mass, etc). Any ideas or comments? (I wasn't following the Shane Trail, just happened to be down there on business). |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: ard mhacha Date: 12 Jul 01 - 05:19 AM At this bloody rate we will never get the 32, WOLFGANG, pick your County you are an honorary paddy Slan Ard Mhacha. |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Aidan Crossey Date: 12 Jul 01 - 05:40 AM Big Tim ... Maybe we should start a thread called "What Do You Think Of Shane MacGowan?". I'm sure there'd be some pretty polarised views - and I'm not sure that when it was all added up we'd have learnt an awful lot. But I don't think it would be fair for us to hijack Ard Mhacha's thread. If you want to kick off a thread, then I'll let you know what I think. Can't speak for Nenagh folks. Only know one Nenagh-ite and he's a second generationer.

Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Paddy Plastique Date: 12 Jul 01 - 06:34 AM I'm from the Co. Northside but I'm now in the ancestral chateau in the SW of France (only jokin' it's a Council Flat...) |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: forty two Date: 12 Jul 01 - 07:47 AM County Antrim here but so far south in the county that my postal address is Craigavon in Co Armagh. That really annoys me. I have to go through County Down before getting to Armagh. But that's the postal service logic for you! |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Aidan Crossey Date: 12 Jul 01 - 08:05 AM Forty Two ... Sounds to me like an added bonus ... how much did you have to bribe the post office for that little stroke of good luck! Repeat after me "There's one fair county in ..." (Actually I hate "The Boys From The Co. Armagh" with a vengeance. Think you got the better deal with your county song!) |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: ard mhacha Date: 12 Jul 01 - 09:27 AM Forty Two, Manys the time I walked along the Canal bank and crossed Droughal Bridge, am I close, and we walked the three Counties from Lurgan, many moons ago. Lovey part of the country with Lough Neagh shimmering in the background. Slan Ard Mhacha. |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Brian Hoskin Date: 13 Jul 01 - 09:10 AM You've got a long way to go to make all 32, so I thought I'd best refresh this before it drops off the bottom of the list. Brian |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: forty two Date: 13 Jul 01 - 12:54 PM ard mhacha, yes you are very close - I'm just up the road between Aghalee and Lower Ballinderry. It's a grand walk that along the canal and by the Broadwater. |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: Big Tim Date: 13 Jul 01 - 01:52 PM Tis pretty to be in Ballinderry, tis pretty to be in Aghalee, tis prettier to be on bonny Ram's Island, sitting beneath yon chestnut tree, (!) |
Subject: RE: How many Irish Catters From: ard mhacha Date: 13 Jul 01 - 02:02 PM Big Tim, Fourty Two is a lucky man he sees some lovely sunsets looking across Lough Neagh to the west. Slan Ard Mhacha. |
