Subject: Help me find this song! From: rdunham@cococo.net Date: 03 Jan 98 - 11:12 PM Help me find this song. I don't know the title or artist but it is a spiritual song with the words: "I think I heard Him say, As he was strugglin' up the hill I think I heard Him say, Take my mother home, Take my mother home. I think I heard Him say, As they was rafflin' off his clothes, I think I heard Him say, Take my mother home, Take my mother home, I'll die this death on Calvary, Ain't gonna die no more, I'll die on Calvary, Ain't gonna die no more, Ain't gonna die no more." I would appreciate knowing the entire lyrics and music. Thanks |

Her recording is good, but I'd like to hear it sung by a bass, like Paul Robeson.) -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Help me find this song! From: Joe Offer Date: 05 Jan 98 - 02:41 AM Thanks, Tiger - I KNEW I'd heard it sung by a male voice. Have any idea what Belafonte album it's on? Anybody know of other recordings? This one and "The Holy City" are two that I think Rbeson should have done, and I swear I can hear Robeson's voice singing both of them, way back in my memory. Does anyone know if Robeson ever recorded either? -Joe offer- |
