It seems Hull ,UK is becoming the mudcat mecca, Another new member from Hull has just joined. Her name is Nik Nak and she is a fine fiddler. She has also started attending the Jug sessions. Would you give her a warm welcome.
Cheers Bill

Welcome Nik Nak! Although I live in Dorset now I could be counted as yet another from the Hull multitude, as I was born and brought up there until I left in 1975 - it's changed a bit since then though!

Welcome Nik Nak.

BTW, I'm working hard to try to persuade my mum to transport me (not really that bad - she loves the music) to a session in the Jug - a bit further than our usual range but I still think quite "do-able" as a one off. May get to meet you all.

Jon

Welcome, Nik Nak! We'll have to increase recruitment on this side of the Pennines to keep up with you lot!

Don't let all those melodeons at the Jug drown you out either. :0)

Love,

Hello good morning and welcome, yes it is honest, its 01.40am. And dont let Bill Sables put you of about melodeons, its only because he does not know how to tune the strings on them.

Welcome to the cat, Cobble and Mrs C.

Welcome Nik Nak! We have a regular session in Hull on Fridays at the Kingston in Cumberland Street (it's not that easy to find, if you want them you can PM me for directions) starting about 9pm. It's an everything goes sessions, tunes from anywhere but mainly Irish and English, songs with and without accompaniment, monologues, poetry, jokes.

And to you other poor fools out there, all bow down and recognise Hull as the centre of the universe! Or we'll launch unremitting waves of folk music in your direction. Buwahahaha!

Les

Ickle Dorrit-Do you and Les need any help with World domination? Im not very good at spelling, so you can do any writing, but you can borrow my toolkit.
Ps. Im busy on Thursdays. :-)

Post - Top - Home - Printer Friendly - Translate

Subject: RE: BS: New member from Hull
From: Les from Hull

Jeffp - I imagine that Silver Spring is smaller than Hull, so there's probably no challenge on the concentration. Perhaps I should put it to our City Fathers that we should be sister cities - if you don't mind having Rotterdam, Freetown (Sierra Leone), Szczecin, Niigata, Reykavik and Raleigh (USA).

Perhaps, there's a thread in the making - which 'catters live in other 'catters sister cities (or twin towns)?

Actually a lot of the people posting here have connections with Hull but have sensibly moved away, some are 'foreigners' who have moved here only recently (like in the last 30 years) and some only come here temporarily to use our fine educational establishments. It takes a lot to be a proper 'Hull Kid'.
