Subject: RE: Tune Req: Masons Apron Variations From: Jon Freeman Date: 11 Jul 01 - 08:23 AM I have heard several versions but the only one in print I have seen is in Sully's Irish Banjo book. I have had no joy searching the web (although I admit I have not taken the time to try each entry in JC's) but what I have done is put together a skeleton type of version which is typical of the variations I have heard and placed the MIDI here in case it is of any help. Subject: RE: Tune Req: Masons Apron Variations From: bill\sables Date: 11 Jul 01 - 09:47 AM I have a copy of the dots but I have loaned it out at the moment. It is the variations which John Sheenan of the Dubliners plays. Not as many variations as Sean McGuire but still very much more than are usally played. I will post it when I get it back Bill |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Masons Apron Variations From: Moleskin Joe Date: 11 Jul 01 - 03:06 PM The book is "Ho-ro-gheallaidh : session tunes for Scottish fiddlers" published in 1990 by Taigh Na Teud, 13 Breacais Ard, Isle of Skye, Scotland. IV42 8PY. It gives 5 additional parts to The Mason's Apron arranged by Ann Hughes. Two of the parts require you to move out of first position and another of them is full of double stops. I could abc it if I take a week off work. Good Luck. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Masons Apron Variations From: Brendy Date: 31 Jul 01 - 06:35 AM Séamus Egan, from Solas, has recorded a great version on a solo album of his, a few years back. He plays it on a nylon strung, (sounds like capo on the 7th fret). B. |
