Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Donuel Date: 01 Jan 25 - 11:43 AM We are expecting 78 days of winter. The last three days have been 60 F, setting a historic high temperature for the year. I hear only Donald Trump will know what to do. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 04 Jan 25 - 02:01 PM It's bitterly cold and some places are getting snow. We have sunshine and a withering winter wind blowing the half-mast flags. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Mrrzy Date: 04 Jan 25 - 06:40 PM Predictions for the coming storm range from less than an inch of snow to 11". Love living here in Unpredictabletown. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Donuel Date: 05 Jan 25 - 07:14 AM Expect some ice storms to cause power outages that will affect the internet. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 06 Jan 25 - 06:13 PM My corner of New England has not been touched by the big snowstorm. How are Mudcatters faring in other parts of the country (U.S.)? |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 06 Jan 25 - 09:43 PM Snow in the forecast for Thursday, just very cold overnight for the rest of the week. We're on the bottom end of the storm swooping through the middle of the continent. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 07 Jan 25 - 07:25 PM No snowstorm here, but that wind is something to deal with. It is what is colloquially called a lazy wind: it goes right through you because it is too lazy to work at going around you. And is it ever cold! |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 08 Jan 25 - 06:03 PM I find a lazy wind is a tad less annoying than lazy rain .... |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: gillymor Date: 09 Jan 25 - 10:21 AM 51F in SWFL, which is frigid for down here and it's not supposed to get above 60 today. I love it, went for a bike ride this morning and got back with a frozen face. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Charmion Date: 09 Jan 25 - 10:49 AM The sun is shining brightly today in Perth County, Ontario, with a forecast high of minus 7 Celsius and a wind-chill warning explained by the tossing trees. A warming trend is supposed to begin tomorrow, accompanied (as usual) by snow every day for a week. We're having a normal lake-effect winter. How do you freeze your face, even on a bike, at 51 Fahrenheit? |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: gillymor Date: 09 Jan 25 - 11:12 AM Let's just say I was a rosy-cheeked lad. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 10 Jan 25 - 03:51 PM Well, while that storm system churns about in the midsection of the continent, New England is getting some relief in the form of no more icy winds, although temps remain at or below freezing. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 14 Jan 25 - 03:23 PM Bracing for the next cold snap around New England, within the next seven days sometime. Right now it isn't bad, as there is little wind. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 16 Jan 25 - 06:02 PM Snowing! |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Charmion Date: 17 Jan 25 - 04:58 PM Here, too. As a rule, falling snow means not cold -- at least not by Canadian standards. I'd rather shovel than freeze. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 17 Jan 25 - 05:45 PM here in the Harbour City in the Land of Aus, we've had a cool spell. Howling winds dropping trees left, right & centre all day - 3pm I noticed d a City of Sydney SES (State Emergency service) truck rushing to Hyde Park to pull a tree off some folks who were sheltering, they (only) had minor injuries. pictures dunno why those idiots were outside on the ferry in high water From days with nasty humidity last night was so cold (in comparison to Northern Hemisphere cold) that the light woollen shawl I occasionally use over my sheet in a normal Sydney summer (fan is on all night) was not enough. Last night I added my warmer wooly shawl - also not enough, so I threw it off & added a folded over medium woollen blanket. The wind howled all day & night Today's forecast. 26C (= 78F) Cloudy. High chance of showers. Winds south to southeasterly 25 to 40 km/h decreasing to 20 to 30 km/h in the late evening. Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing. |

Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 19 Jan 25 - 06:46 PM Snowing, expecting four inches of the powdery white stuff before dawn. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Jan 25 - 12:33 AM Cold, well below freezing every night through Thursday, but it does warm to the 50s in the daytime starting Wednesday. The slight threat of precipitation has vanished from the forecast, an excellent development in a region where 1" of snow can bring the place to a standstill. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: The Sandman Date: 21 Jan 25 - 12:35 PM 45 fahrenheit mostly cloudy |

Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Tattie Bogle Date: 23 Jan 25 - 07:14 PM No buses running in Edinburgh during the red alert phase, which is from 10am to 5pm. Amber alert starts at 6 am. Very calm at the moment (12 midnight) First time ever, one of those siren alerts to all mobile phones, with a message about the impending doom. I didn’t hear mine, as was in another room at the other end of the house when it went off, but others report having been terrified by its loudness! |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Tattie Bogle Date: 24 Jan 25 - 05:44 PM Well that was some storm - or at least it's still going but tailing off. Just watching the news, and a trail of destruction throughout Ireland and Scotland and N England - 1000s of trees down, roofs blown off, falling masonry as chimneys collapse, whole sides of buildings taken out, lorries and cars blown over, power cuts, floods. It was another day of lockdown, and rightly so. On a personal note, we had one fence panel down in our back garden, and a woodpile blown about. And now we have the prospect of snow and ice coming overnight. Happy Days! |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 25 Jan 25 - 06:15 PM Here in the northeast US it isn't so beastly cold any more, but not warm enough for the snow and ice to melt yet (so mud season is not upon us just yet). |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 27 Jan 25 - 05:21 PM here we have a heat wave - 40C/104F in the harbour city & hotter (42) further west. Tomorrow & following days 25/77F. Expert (Academic) on getting cool is on the radio - shopping centres, public libraries, community spaces etc. are recommended. My plan today was to drop off kitchen scraps at Community Garden compost bins, plan now is to go after 6pm. sandra - 9pm Tuesday 30C/86F under a cool fan |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 29 Jan 25 - 03:01 PM We have snow squalls blowing through -- brief, intense, volatile. It's a good day to stay indoors and watch from someplace warm. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 30 Jan 25 - 01:31 PM So the snow stopped, and now it's just a nasty icy winter wind, freezing everything over. You just grit your chattering teeth and carry on. Bright cloudless sunshine, though, on top of that wind. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: Neil D Date: 31 Jan 25 - 02:09 AM This was the first day all year that it got warm enough for the snow to melt some. |
Subject: RE: What's the weather like where you are? From: keberoxu Date: 03 Feb 25 - 09:54 PM After a day of melting snow and rain, it gets cold and windy again tomorrow. That means more ice ... |
