Subject: The Isle of the Blessed From: Mrrzy Date: 19 Jul 01 - 11:35 AM Hi, this has a chorus that I'm trying to decipher, but the verses would be interesting too. I'd also like to know any history, if any is available. I don't know if I have the title right, but the chorus says something like: Sing away to the (Boynya?) on the banks of the Boyne It's a beautiful, haunting melody, too. As a separate question, why do Irish songs say Glory-O to things, where others would say either just Glory or Glory Glory? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Isle of the Blessed From: Mrrzy Date: 19 Jul 01 - 03:51 PM YES it is, thanks, Sorcha, you've been answering all my calls lately! Now the question becomes, what is meant by Sing away Bru/ na Bo/inne on the Banks of the Boyne? Is it a place or a person? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Isle of the Blessed From: MMario Date: 19 Jul 01 - 04:29 PM per a web search - Bru na Boinne (with the accents - which I find difficult to do) means "Dwelling Place of the Boyne" or in another translation "Home of the Boyne" |
