Hi, this has a chorus that I'm trying to decipher, but the verses would be interesting too. I'd also like to know any history, if any is available. I don't know if I have the title right, but the chorus says something like:

Sing away to the (Boynya?) on the banks of the Boyne
That inspired generations of men later on
Glory-O to the men and the women laid to rest
Who brought greatness to Ireland, the Isle of the Blessed

It's a beautiful, haunting melody, too.

As a separate question, why do Irish songs say Glory-O to things, where others would say either just Glory or Glory Glory?

YES it is, thanks, Sorcha, you've been answering all my calls lately! Now the question becomes, what is meant by Sing away Bru/ na Bo/inne on the Banks of the Boyne? Is it a place or a person?

You'll have to Aine or Big Mick to answer that one. I've not the Gaelic.

per a web search - Bru na Boinne (with the accents - which I find difficult to do) means "Dwelling Place of the Boyne" or in another translation "Home of the Boyne"
