The best recording I've heard of that particular song was done by Paul Robeson. I think you can purchase it (contemporary recordings @ amazon or yahoo or whatever) on either the album: 'The Legendary Moscow Concert' or on his 'Songs of Free Men' recording.

Best of Luck,
~Jen (most definately NOT a 'sir')

Dear Jen,

Thanks for rapid reply. I have bought all the 2 Robeson's versions of "From Border to Border". In fact I learnt this song from Robrson.Though he sang this song excellently, especially the Moscow concert version, I still want versions sung by Soviet vocalist, so could you pleae giveme some idea how can I get those versions? And could you please help me to find the Lyric with English Translation?

Thanks.

Well, I know Ivan Skobstov was a Russian bass that sang it, but I don't have a copy of that recording. It would be somewhere to look at least.

Another you might try, someone who would have infinately better resources than a folk forum, would be at this e-mail address:
Len@musicweb.uk.net

Hope that helps, and if you find anything, be sure to let us know!

~Jen
