Here's a lyrics set from Planxty (one of their versions) with chords in "D":

[D]I had a first cousin called Arthur McBride
He and[G] I took a[D] stroll down[Em] by the sea[G]side
a[D] seeking good fortune and what might be[Bm] tide
it was[D] just as the[Em] day was a[G] dawn[A]ing
And[D] after restin we[G] both took a[D] tramp
we[G] met Seargeant[D] Harper and [Em]Corporal [G]Cramp
[D besides the wee drummer who[Bm] beat up for camp
with his[A] rowdy dou[G] dou in the mor[D]ning

He said my young fellows, if you will enlist
a guinea you quickly will get in your fist
and besides a crown for to kick up the dust
and drink the King's health in the morning
For a soldier, he leads a very fine life.
He always is blest with a charming young wife
And he pays all his debts without sorrow or strife,
And always lives happy and charming

Ah, no w, me bold sergeant, we are not for sale,
We'll nay make such bargain, and your bribe won't avail
We're not tired of our country, we don't care to sail.
Although that your offer is charming.
But had we been such fools as to take the advance,
It's right bloody slender would be our poor chance,
For the Queen wouldn't scruple for to send us to France
Where we would be shot without warning.

He says my young fellows if I hear but one word
I instantly now will out with my sword
and into your bodies as strength might afford
so now me gay devils take warning
but Arthur and I we soon took the odds
and we gave them no chance for to launch out their swords
our wacking shillelaghs came over their heads
and paid them right smart in the morning

As for the wee drummer we rifled his pouch
and we made a football of his rowdy dou dou
and into the ocean for to rock and to roll
And barring its tedious returning
As for the ould rapier that hung by his side
we flung it as far as we could in the tide
To the divil I pitch you says Arthur McBride
To temper your steel in the morning.

My apologies, guest.

I did not immediately cop the lack of capitals in your handle (usually used as a prefix), and therefore didn't realise that you already are a member.

And as your handle shows up in searches of the other 'GUEST' posts, it was considerate of you to make the differentiation.

Hope the page is OK.

OK, here we go, earlier than thought, but what the hell:

As near as I can get to what Brady does

Read the earlier thread for the usual disclaimers!!

And have fun!

No problem, and if you want to ask me anything about the transcription which seems unclear to you, I'll even put a wee E-mail link on it, so as you can get in touch with me easily.

Mudcat has an 'internal postal system', as well, and you could send any queries via that, to my 'user name'.
In order to do that, you would have to join.

There's a few PermaThreads (they are in teal) which guide you through various processes that facilitate you using the Mudcat Personal Message system, plus a few guidelines, etc.

But, yes, certainly I shall link to the page from here.
I've a few things to do today, but be assured that I will get it optimised a wee bit better, change the layout of it a wee bit, and get it up to the site as quick as possible.

B.

I'm sorry???

I really don't know what you're talking about...

If you could repost the tab to Arthur McBride on your new webspace though, I'd much appreciate it. Thank you

Yeahhh.. Ok Ok point taken.

I have posted my last to that. I promise.

I took that site down; it was my first attempt at web-paging, and it was one of those free sites. The Pop-ups were huge, and the other windows that kept opening....you know the craic.

When I went cable, they gave me a site here, and it's just recently, I rented a bit of web space from a local provider, where Front Page extensions are permitted. But I haven't started my own page on the site, yet. (I sort of operate on a 36 hour day)

If you are serious about this, I will put the page back up again on my present site in a couple of days.

I wasn't too sure how that page loaded the last time, and now with the help of Photoshop, I can optimise those wee gifs probably a bit better.

But you have put an idea into my head.

Thanks.

B.

Hi

I'm looking for the tab for this wonderful song.

I found this thread but the links don't appear to work.

Is Brendy still around here?

Thank you
