Subject: Early Trapezoid Album From: KingLear Date: 31 Jul 01 - 11:16 AM When I was a kid, I used to listen to what I believe is Trapezoid's first album over and over. I live far from my folks now and only have a tape of their vinyl. Does this exist anywhere for purchase? Vinyl or digital? I sure miss it. |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: Amos Date: 31 Jul 01 - 12:53 PM Musta been before they found out round ones worked better? (Sorry). Wish I could help. I'd suggest going to Google and searching for second-hand record stores with an on-line presence. |

Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: KingLear Date: 31 Jul 01 - 04:02 PM I found Jim McCutcheon's early stuff on Ebay, but no Trapezoid. Am I looking in the wrong place? |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: Wesley S Date: 31 Jul 01 - 04:13 PM I went to www.allmusic.com and typed in Trapezoid and they listed several CD's in print. At least 4 of them were offered for sale at CD now. |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: KingLear Date: 31 Jul 01 - 04:29 PM Thanks Wesley (and all), I saw those too. But this was a 1974(?, maybe earlier) recording that was all traditional stuff. Trapezoid went in a more new age direction after that first album. This is a tough one, but thank you for your help. I think I'm in the right place here (mudcat), someone will know. |

Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: jaze Date: 31 Jul 01 - 07:17 PM When I was in college in W.Va. in the 70's, I saw them at the Cultural Center in Charleston. An incredible concert! They were selling Lp's in the lobby, but I was too broke. I kinda forgot about them til this thread. I'll have to look for some early stuff, too. |

Reyes, and the Quiet Joys of Brotherhood. Flying Fish, 1982. Not the first one, is it??? |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: CarolC Date: 31 Jul 01 - 07:58 PM Are you thinking of "Three Forks of Cheat"? It came out in 1978, and has these pieces on it...
Memphis Shakedown Sam Rizzetta and Ralph Gordon live around here, and they're still very active in the music scene. Ralph plays upright bass for just about everyone who needs an upright bassist, and Sam has quite a few very good solo recordings out. He also appears on other people's recordings from time to time. |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: IvanB Date: 31 Jul 01 - 08:04 PM Ralph and Sam were both workshop instructors when I attended the Potomac Valley Dulcimer Festival (can't remember which year, but it was late 80's, I believe. They also played in the Saturday night concert for the festival. I also have 'Three Forks of Cheat' and consider it to be anything but new age. |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: KingLear Date: 01 Aug 01 - 08:58 AM Wow, I'm learning a lot. I'm way out of my element here so thank you all for being so kind. The album I'm thinking of had "Wondrous Love" and others, but my Dad is going to write me in a few and give me the song list. I'll be back when I can be a little more specific. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: CarolC Date: 01 Aug 01 - 04:15 PM It looks like you're in luck. The first 'Trapezoid' album can be found at this site Trapezoid, and it has been re-released. The album appears to be called 'Trapezoid'. I think I remember that album. |
Subject: RE: Early Trapezoid Album From: GUEST,jack Date: 01 Aug 01 - 05:09 PM On second thought, before I am critized for using this forum to sell items, let me retract my offer to sell those albums. I apologize for acting before I completly thought the whole thing thru. jack |
