Subject: ADD: So Many Others (Rod McKuen) From: GUEST Date: 04 Sep 10 - 01:02 AM Guess what... I don't think that was the song I was looking for but I found a reference to your song Rocky... The actual title apparently is "So many others" by Rod McKuen. http://www.mckuen.com/flights/310105.htm SO MANY OTHERS (Rod McKuen) Comfort me with apples torture me with tears make up for the lonely days and all the lonesome years. Place your little fingers here within my hand there've been So Many Others who didn't understand. Bring me pretty marbles the best that you can find, sing to me of rivers it helps to ease my mind. Talk me pretty love words and I will do the same, there've been So Many Others who didn't ask my name. They'd look at me and wonder what is he thinking of when all I ever wanted was lullabies and love. Tell me that I'm handsome and lots of other lies, come along and love me with little summer sighs. And even if you leave me pretend your love is true, there've been So Many Others there might as well be you. Words & Music by Rod McKuen © 1964 by Stanyan Music & Rod McKuen. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Comfort Me With Apples From: GUEST,Rocky Bivens Date: 01 Aug 01 - 06:42 PM Thanks to everyone for trying. This is a song I used to sing along with when I went to university (many years ago). I now suspect it was an original by one of my classmates, because, try as I might, I cannot find it. I still remember the melody. Some of the verses are:
Comfort me with apples. Torture me with tears.
Tell me that you love me. Pretend your love is true.
Sing me pretty love words and I will do the same. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Comfort Me With Apples From: Amos Date: 01 Aug 01 - 05:07 PM Actually this song was adopted as a group anthem by the GUMBO International. (Grouped Users of Microsoft Bitter and Organized). They found it helped them through their twelve-step program to rational computing. The first step, of course, is to recognize that even if no one is saying so, there is a problem.... Regards, A |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Comfort Me With Apples From: IanC Date: 01 Aug 01 - 04:14 AM Well, there's a book here and a poem here. It's also in the Lyrics of a song called "The Red Shoes" by Kate Bush here as well as one version of "The Song of Songs" (see above) here. Any help?
Cheers! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Comfort Me With Apples From: Burke Date: 31 Jul 01 - 06:05 PM If the Rose of Sharon linked to above it what you want, it's by William Billings, 1778. It's a 4 part anthem. The Choral Public Domain Library has it in PDF, MIDI, and Finale called I am the Rose of Sharon. |
