I heard Tom Paxton sing a song - I think about Nixon. The chorus went something like 'I don't want a bunny wunny in my little row boat, in my little row boat in the pond' Can anyone help with the words? Thanks

It was about Carter actually, an incident where he was fishing from a boat when a rabbit was seen swimming towards him. The secret service guys thought it may be a remote controlled bomb or a Russian agent or something, leapt in after him and wrestled him to the bank, just in case. The rest of the chorus goes 'for the bunny might be cwazy and he'll gwab me by da fwoat, in my wittle wow boat on the pond.' This is from Tom Paxton's Live For the Record album (1996). At the time, Paxton was doing a medley of his topical songs, the ones that don't last long. I don't know if this is the complete song, or if Paxton abbreviated it for the medley.

Joe, what you posted are the complete lyrics according to 'Politics' - one of my all-time favourite albums. The only item on it I don't like is the above song ...

I heard this song sung by Arlo Guthrie on the Boston Common,
decades ago,
when Pete Seeger still had a voice to sing with,
and the two of them did this open-air concert together.

The chorus is the same;
but Guthrie sang a different conclusion
to the third and final verse:

"... Jimmy was a hero, felt it in his bones/
Said in the words of John Paul Jones:
I DON'T WANT A BUNNY WUNNY . . ."
