Does anyone know where I could find a site (or a book if necessary) that would give me the dates of various Stanley Brothers recordings in detail? I have tried a number of Web sites without much luck, they are all too general or vague. I have a number of CDs that are rereleases and repackagings of the original Mercury and Starday/King albums in the 50s, but the packagings give you ZERO information (there's a big surprise, huh?) on recording dates, performers, etc. I would appreciate any help, neighbours.

Hi Peter,

The Bear Family double CD The Stanley Brothers & The Clinch Mountain Boys '1953-58 and 1959' BCD 15 681 BH has a discography by Gary B. Reid of their Mercury and Blue Ridge recordings and Reid also provides a discography of their Columbia recordings in the booklet to The Stanley Brothers & The Clinch Mountain Boys '1949-52' BCD 15 564. I don't know where you would find a discography of their Starday/King material, but I reckon it would be pretty extensive.

If you are unable to borrow the Bear Family sets from someone, PM me and I will photocopy the Mercury and Columbia discographies for you.
