Subject: Butte Folk Fest From: Alice Date: 18 Jan 98 - 11:18 AM For those so inclined to make the journey, the 2nd Annual Butte Folk Fest (Butte, Montana) is Jan. 23. The Mother Lode Theatre, 8pm, $5.(proceeds go to the Butte Center for the Performing Arts Endowment Fund). Performers include Irish born John "The Yank" Harrington on button accordian (he is 94 years old), Irish step dancers from Helena, hobo songwriter Kuddie "The Feather Kid", and other colorful characters. I probably won't make it over to Butte for the performance, but I just watched an interview and a couple of accordian tunes by The Yank on Butte tv news, and the Fest looks like it will be quite interesting. Subject: RE: Butte Folk Fest From: Norske Date: 18 Jan 98 - 01:17 PM Thanks for the info!! I may be in the minority here, but what some might call "a crass commercial posting" aka "Spam," it is certainly welcome. As long as the posts stay ON TOPIC. I love to make as many of these type fests as possible. Just don't hear about them until it is too late. May not be able to get to this one due to the fact it is just a few days from now. I think that Mudcat's place should be a hub of notices about these shindigs. Any opinions? |
Subject: RE: Butte Folk Fest From: Jack mostly folk Date: 18 Jan 98 - 07:05 PM Montana in January, WOW! Tough trek but sure it's worth the effort.I agree in opinion about Mudcat being a good site to yarn information about fests and any other "folk" subjects. But also have to honor the founders and keepers of the flame, Folk song data base and song information is a great service and should never be compromised.I just hope most share our views in thinking other related folk subjects have a place in Mudcat. jmf |
