I know it ain't folk but I'd like to express my sorrow at the passing of Carl Perkins. He was a joyful musician and by all accounts a genuinely good person. He will be missed.

Me too. I was much saddened. We jitterbugged (really! - we called it that! - ) to Carl's Blue Suede Shoes and other songs when I was a teenager. Always loved his music and as you say, he seems to have been a very special and "real" individual as well.
