Hi, Ron - can you tell us what you remember of the song, so we don't go off the path in our search? If you can remember a few phrases or the general idea behind the song, that might help. Do you remember who sang it on a recording?

A quick search of GOOGLE.COM reveals:

I don't know where The time has gone Since those little boy days Doesn't seem that long Yet here you are It's your wedding day And there's one thing darling I'd like to say...

Chorus: Be kind, be sweet Be a gentle man Care and share And always be fair And remember though you now Have taken a wife You will always be my son My Loving son

You filled my life With so much joy As I watched you grow From that little boy Now I'll try not to cry As you walk away And just once more darling I'd like to say...

Chorus

OOPS! Here it is, with line breaks...

I don't know where
The time has gone
Since those little boy days
Doesn't seem that long
Yet here you are
It's your wedding day
And there's one thing darling
I'd like to say...

Chorus:
Be kind, be sweet
Be a gentle man
Care and share
And always be fair
And remember though you now
Have taken a wife
You will always be my son
My Loving son

You filled my life
With so much joy
As I watched you grow
From that little boy
Now I'll try not to cry
As you walk away
And just once more darling
I'd like to say...

Chorus

Trapper, is there any chance you can find songwriter information anywhere? Nice to see you here again. (I think Trapper is the first Mudcatter I met online - I met him through rec.music.folk in 1992.)

This was the song the groom and his mother danced to at my niece's wedding reception last weekend. I hit the internet to find the lyrics - and of course, found them right here at the MudCat! Love this place!
