I have desperately been searching for the lyrics to "There Ain't No Ash Will Burn". I do not even know if that is the name of the song. What I do know is. . . . . Love is a precious thing, I'm told. Birds just like West Virginia cold. But when the fire dies down, It's cold. There ain't no ash will burn. If anyone can help me withthe rest of the song or even correct what I know please do so. . .

Hi, Clockwork. The song is called "There Ain't No Ash Will Burn". (It's "burns just like West Virginia coal", by the way, not birds!) If you click here, it will take you to a thread from last year that has what I think are all the words to the song, and possibly the names of the authors. I hope that helps. It's a beautiful song. Welcome to the Mudcat! I hope you'll join and keep coming back. This song is not in the Digital Tradition, but with luck it will be in the next edition. I'll send a message to the harvesters to that effect....it's hard for them to pick up on songs that show up on threads without a "LyrAdd" flag.

It says on the liner notes to this album by Laura Love and Jo Miller that the song was written by Walt Aldridge. I know Jo from when I lived in Seattle; her band, Ranch Romance, was awesome.
