I just heard Sam playing his box for the first time yesterday on a tape Naemanson gave me. Wow, Sam! I've never heard anything like that before.

To say I'm impressed would be a pretty big understatement! I was especially interested in the way you sometimes use the basses as a counterpoint to the treble side as opposed to just an accompaniment. That never would have occurred to me.

It sounds to me like you're taking the accordion in whole new directions that it's never been before. I'm looking forward to all of your future recordings.

Thanks for the heads up, Bill. I'll have to see what I can do. The logistics of it might be a bit tricky, but if I can pull it off, I'm sure it will be worth it. Will you be at the getaway also?

I'm really enjoying that tape. All three of you sound great, although I'm not quite sure who is doing what on it except for the accordion which is pretty easy to identify.

New Cd from the Pack being recorded next week New 422 cd being recorded in a few months or so. and......and I say maybe...a solo cd in the near future, but I didn't tell you, o.k.

All these are going to have gigs to promote them and, as Bob Conroy said at Sidmouth - It's Sam the walking folk festival. He crops up everywhere.

Caught up with 422 at Whitby; they'd done sets at three different venues in about 45 minutes which seemed to be fairly typical! Fantastic, all of them.

Sam is a lovely guy - I've known him for years and he's just grown into such a lovely, talented man. Mind you the rest of 422 are all pretty special as well - Sophie, Emily, Ian and Joey, all products of Folkworks along with Sam, are great kids. Long may they continue.

My fish arrived along with a somewhat moldy antique fishing net which the cats have found irresistible. Had to seal it in a "yellow and blue make green" bag and hide it in the fridge. Thank you Sam. It will be part of the "whatsit" room when I finally get settled.

I still smile remembering Ian, Bill, and Sam night on Mudcat radio. That was an unforgetable Mudcat Moment.

WHAT!! SAM!! I have been so looking forward to seeing you guys again! Boooo Hoooo!!

By the way, We're moving out of paradise. Honey and I are moving back to Sea Bright to a condo. We can still have guests, but no loud music (poor Honey the R'n'R drummer). We still live by the river, but not on it. But, we have access across the street to our ocean and we can still go kayaking. We still have a fire place. Oh and a swimming pool.

Paradise came with too high a price and I don't mean money. Our landperson was a little too shady with her dealings for us. We were afaid we would come home to a locked house and all our stuff confiscated if she didn't pay her taxes.

I will miss seeing you all very much. I hope everything is ok with everyone. Are you all good??

john how can I say this with out sounding slightly hostile I AM NOT JEALOUS OF ANYONE ESSPECISIALLY NOT SAM, i mean umm yeah totally jealous sam just floats my boat and as for miserable whats rong with thinking smiling and happyness are some sort of discease, considering what my life is like at the moment I still think Perky people should be shot with a rather big gun or burnt at the stake as witches for un-natural behaaavior!!!

SAM PIRT AND IAN STEPHENSON ROCK!!!!!!!!!

They are both fantastic musicians and a good laugh and great friends. In no way are they gods, they are just really cool down to earth shiny happy people...most of the time!! (Ian gets a bit grumpy when he's been on a long flight) Soz yan!!

ALSO Sam is a great accordion teacher and if anyone needs lessons I'd strongly suggest going and seeing Sam. He breaks things down really easily, doesn't laugh at you when you make a mistake, he totally understands how hard it is when you first start and so can help to the fullest and not be patronising. He's really laid back and will help you with anything he can. AND YES HE SMILES CONSTANTLY.......BUT NOTHING NEW THERE!!

There you are Sam, a bit of advertising....but it's all the honest truth!!
