Hooo! I finally found the album it's on; for sale here. Never did find any lyrics though. Not at Cowpie, and all Google turned up was the site above.

I'M WONDERING HOW
(recorded by Ernest Tubb)
Songwriter?????

So you fell in love again, and now we are only friends,
You say you're sure that you'll be happy now;
But when I think of the past, something tells me it won't last,
And if it does, I'll still be wondering how.

You're the only love I knew, and I thought you loved me too,
But one by one you've broken every vow;
All the things you seemed to be, fooled a dozen more than me,
I could be wrong, but dear, I'm wondering how.

[bridge]
Wondering how I'm gonna face tomorrow,
It seems there's nothing left to live for now;
And as long years come and go, you're the one I'll love, you know,
And I'll get by, but dear, I'm wondering how.

Now, I hope that fate is kind, and contentment you will find;
May sorrows never cause your head to bow.
But you know what people say, for our wrongs we all must pay,
I'm sure you will, and dear I'm wondering how.

If you still think that you're right when you read this note tonight,
I'll never bother you again, I'll vow;
But I am so afraid that your happiness will fade,
You're bound to suffer, and I'm wondering how.

[bridge]
Wondering how I'm gonna face tomorrow,
It seems there's nothing left to live for now;
And as long years come and go, you're the one I'll love, you know,
And I'll get by, but dear, I'm wondering how.
