I'm looking for a part of missing lyrics from a 15th century Spanish "romance". Anyone?

Thanks, Mad

(here's the missing part) al salir del sol,

Thanks a thousand times, Ed! It was so annoying trying to sing that lovely song with some words missing! Gee, I love this place...

And the lyrics are here and here, too. I've just listened to this beautiful song here.

You have a translation here but the 2 last lines are missing, so I'll add them

Oh, my beautiful lover who I will never see again,
Exquisite body that brings me death,
There is no love without pain,
Nor pain without grief,
Nor pain so sharp as that of love.
Oh, my beautiful lover who I will never see again,
Exquisite body that brings me death,
Wake me up (lit. get me up), mother, when the sun rises.
I went around/throughout the green fields to look for my love.

Btw, there are typos and miscutings in the lyrics Ed copied and pasted above

YouTube and from there many others

Maybe the last typo wasn't the right one after all. I've just thought that it could be
I think that Levanteme is Me levanté (I got up) in modern Spanish. At that time the pronouns could be enclitic in conjugated tenses (vs only imperative, infinitive and gerund nowadays). Indeed "I got up, mother, at sunrise / I went throughout the green fields to look for my love" makes more sense that the previous "Wake up, mother... I went...

Thanks Monique. It's interesting to hear a piece that goes that far back in time - the 1400's.
