Subject: Echo's of Little Rock From: nutty Date: 03 Sep 01 - 06:46 PM I hope that no-one will be upset by this thread but I feel I must share my distress at what was shown on the television news tonight Many years ago I was stunned by the image of schoolchildren being escorted to school by armed guards because a faction of the community believed that they should be segregated. I was saddened that there were people who believed that they had the right to control the freedom of movement and thought of others. Tonight I witnessed screaming 5year olds ... again being escorted to school by armed guards ...... because a section of the Protestant(Christian) community were trying to prevent a section of the Catholic (Christian) community from walking past their houses to the front gates of the school The hatred on the faces of both communities makes one question if Peace in Ireland can ever be achieved I don't often pray but tonight I will pray for those small children who live amongst all that hatred.May they find peace

Subject: RE: BS: Echo's of Little Rock From: Linda Kelly Date: 04 Sep 01 - 04:42 AM I agree Hazel. When a child is not allowed to walk to school for fear of abuse by grown men, then I am afraid the depths have been reached. How long must we put up with this racism under the charade of Unionism? Let's hope the silent majority will let their voices be heard because I see no evidence of decency or justice. |
