The death has been announced of the film critic Pauline Kale age 82. Her film criticisms were often provocative. her experience of the cinema was very comprehensive as following her graduation from the University of California with a degree in philosophy, she managed two movie theatres. She had a film review spot on a radio programme and started writing film reviews in the 1940s. She became film critic of the New Yorker in 1967 and her reviews also appeared in Vogue and Madamoiselle. For a short time in the late 1970s she was a producer for Warren Beatty. She retired in 1991. Fans can find collections of her reviews in such books as "I Lost It at the Movies" and "5001 Night at the Movies." She is now with "The Great Critic in the Sky."
