Heard on it the other day this song by "The Gumboots" off their CD "A Search for a Passage"... But that was all the info the guide would give me... Anybody got the 411 on this? |

Here's what the reviewer says on one of the above links: The opening track, "The Passage Chantey," is an a capella song which tells us what life was like for sailors on early ships. The CD's title track honors the people who searched for the Northwest Passage and reminds us that significant accomplishments are not done without taking risks. |

I love Stan Rogers "Northwest Passage"... but it's not much of a working song at all... and well, after this many years, I'd be willing to bet that even Stan wouldn't still be singing it... The Passage Chanty, on the other hand sounded to me like a hairy-chested-men-on-icy-cold-ships kinda song... And well, it's at least new to ME, so I'd love to find it, learn it and sing the hell out of it!! |

I've run across some fine new creations with plenty of spirit by Canadian groups such as Tanglefoot and individuals such as James Keelaghan. I've also plowed through a lot of new dreg. I'm not familar with Gumboots and would be interested to learn more. |

Could be mistaken but if they're the same Gumboots I saw on PBS they were beyond being totaly awesome (I hope I'm beginning to sound/talk like the youngster I really am).
