Subject: RE: Lyr Req: No Irish Need Apply From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Sep 01 - 02:46 AM Hi, Jeanne - we have a revised version of the "titles" list coming, and it works very well. For now, it's best to use the "Digitrad and Forum Search" (SuperSearch), and search for a distinctive phrase from the song (since titles aren't always distinctive). -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: No Irish Need Apply From: Wolfgang Date: 06 Sep 01 - 05:12 AM Jeanne, The title search is, well, a bit peculiar. What you should have done when getting 'Song of songs' is to click on the link named 'Next entire page' (and maybe repeat this procedure a couple of times) and you would have got the song. This is a general advice when using the title search. There is nearly nobody in here who has not been fooled by this at least once, so don't think it is your fault. I just tell it so you know why you are puzzled. Wolfgang |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: No Irish Need Apply From: GUEST,Jeanne Date: 06 Sep 01 - 03:57 AM I just went to the alphabetized list again, clicked on "N," and found the list of titles. I clicked on the title "No Irish Need Apply," and, once again, I got "The Song Of All Songs." When I put in "No Irish Need Apply" in the forum search and tried to find all threads with that in the title for the last 3 years, I again came up empty handed. If I post "No Irish Need Apply" in the Forum/DT search box, I do get two listings for the right song. But I'm puzzled why it doesn't work the other two ways. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: No Irish Need Apply From: GUEST,Jeanne Date: 06 Sep 01 - 03:50 AM When I went to the DT and looked under "No Irish Need Apply," I kept getting "The Song of Songs," (or something like that) -- that is, the song that's made up of a number of different song titles. I tried this several times and I also typed "No Irish Need Apply" in the forum search and got nothing. I appreciate your 'clicky,' Masato, though I'm still bewildered as to why I could not find it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: No Irish Need Apply From: masato sakurai Date: 06 Sep 01 - 12:44 AM It is in the DT. Click here. Masato |
Subject: No Irish Need Apply From: GUEST,Jeanne Date: 06 Sep 01 - 12:38 AM I can't believe this song is not in the DT, nor could I find it in the forum. I have one, rather politically correct and, I imagine, recent version, but I would like to find older versions. (The one I have on tape has the Irish applicant telling "the ould lad" how his own ancestors had come over as immigrants, too, and been welcomed by "the Indians who owned this land, " who "didn't tell ye 'no.' " I know in some older versions, the Irish immigrant punches "the ould lad" out. Anyway, what've you got? Jeanne |
