hi there folks, hope everything is ok by your side.

I would like to know of anyone having some music of Patsy Touhey (the great uilleann piper). I need some couple of mp3 or maybe some other format. It´s for a friend that actually used to play uilleann pipes; now because of an accident he is almost dying, now the only thing we wants is to listen to a Patsy Touhey record (the dream of his life).

Please help me with this.

Thanks in advance...

'The Wheels of The World' (Vols 1&2) on the Shanachie Label, and 'A New Dawn' on the N.P.U. label(this is a comp. of teenage uilleann pipers which I produced last year for Na Piobaire Uilleann. Hpe this is of help. PJC '

January 10th, 1923 according to the little book I'm reading.

I have just looked up the recording mentioned and "Wheels Of The World vol 1" is described as "nice compilation of historical 78rpm recordings" so that sounds like the right person. The New Dawn (availible at camsco BTW) appears to open with the Shaskeen played by Touhey before moving on to the stuff played by the younger players.

Patsy Touhey can also be found on a couple of tracks on the "Farwell To Ireland" set of CDs (Proper Records, PROPERBOX 3).

Jon

The correct spelling is "Patsy Tuohy". Here's a picture of the man!
