Subject: RE: Lyr Add: DONE MADE MY VOW TO THE LORD From: masato sakurai Date: 11 Sep 01 - 01:22 AM The tune is somewhat similar to "Go Down, Moses," so the two may be related. The line "sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down" is also used in "Nobody Knows the Trouble I See." Jeanette Thompson (soprano) sings "Done Made My Vow" (arr. E. Boatner) in her album Negro Spirituals (Pavane Records ADW 7267), in a slow and mournful way. Masato

Subject: ADD Version: Done Made My Vow to the Lord From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Aug 12 - 11:49 PM I came across a version of this recorded by a women's quartet called "Meta Four." The song is basically this chorus sung over and over: Done made my vow to the Lord And I never will turn back. I will go, I shall go Since I have been set free. Done made my vow to the Lord And I never will turn back. I will go, I shall go Since I have been set free. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Done Made My Vow to the Lord From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 29 Aug 12 - 03:01 PM "I Made a Vow to the Lord" is the title of several variants. I made a vow to the Lord I made, a vow to the Lord I promised him I'd go Every step of the way I made, I made, I made I made, I made a vow To the Lord, Oh yes I did. Sometimes, O Satan Gets on my track Don't you know he tries So many times to turn me back But I know I've got to go on And stand up to my test For I made a vow I got down on my knees One Sunday morning to the Lord. Did you make a vow to the Lord Did you make, a vow to the Lord Did you promise him You'll go every step of the way Did you promise the Lord that you would run every step of the way'I made a vow I made a vow. Gospel Keynotes, Juanita Bynum, on youtube and lyrics on the net. Also Regina McCrary with the B C and M Mass Choir on youtube. |
