Subject: RE: Gospel Sing 9/11 From: GUEST,Arjay Date: 12 Sep 01 - 12:56 PM Why should I be discouraged? Why should the teardrops come? Why should my heart be lonely And yearn for Heaven and home When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He, His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me. His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me. Chorus I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free! His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me. "Let not your heart be troubled," His tender words I hear, And resting on His goodness I know no doubt or fear. Though by the path He leadeth, Yet one thing I may see: His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me. His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me. Chorus Arjay |

Subject: RE: Gospel Sing 9/11 From: Burke Date: 12 Sep 01 - 11:15 PM My life flows on in endless song; Above earth's lamentation. I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation; Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul-- How can I keep from singing? I lift my eyes; the cloud grows thin; I see the blue above it; And day by day this pathway smooths, since first I learned to love it; The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, A fountain ever springing; All things are mine since I am His; How can I keep from singing? |

This is my home, the country where my heart is. Here are my dreams, my hopes, my holy shrine. This is my song, O God of all the nations, A song of peace for their land and for mine. My country's skies are bluer than the ocean, And sunlight gleams on clover leaf and pine. But other lands have sunshine, too, and clover, And skies are everywhere as blue as mine. O hear my song, Thou God of all the nations, A song of peace for their land and for mine.O hear my song, Thou God of all the nations, A song of peace for their land and for mine. |

Subject: RE: Gospel Sing 9/11 From: Haruo Date: 13 Sep 01 - 08:59 PM I would, but cannot, sing John NEWTON Source : Goble 159 I would, but cannot, sing, I would, but cannot, pray; For Satan meets me when I try, And frights my soul away. I would, but can't, repent, Though I endeavor oft; This stony heart can ne'er relent Till Jesus makes it soft. I would, but cannot, love, Though loved by love divine; No arguments have pow'r to move A soul so base as mine. I would, but cannot, rest In God's most holy will; I know what he appoints is best, Yet murmur at it still. Oh, could I but believe! Then all would easy be; I would, but cannot — Lord, relieve, My help must come from thee! But if indeed I would, Though I can nothing do, Yet the desire is something good, For which my praise is due. By nature prone to ill, Till thine appointed hour, I was as destitute of will As now I am of power. Wilt thou not crown at length The work thou hast begun? And, with the will, afford me strength In all thy ways to run? Liland |

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side. *************************************************************** Genie, it took me several hours to realize that your hymn was Finlandia, one of my all time favorites. I know it as "Be Still My Soul." I've really enjoyed our gospel sing. I know every single song on here, many by heart, several verses. And each has many memories associated with it. I forgot to reference the names and sources of several of my posts, just assumed that the other singers here knew the words. The service at the National Cathedral will be on TV in a few minutes and I'll be watching. It's always the music that gets to me. |

Subject: RE: Gospel Sing 9/11 From: Haruo Date: 16 Sep 01 - 04:16 PM I just posted four hymns in La Lilandejo that I think are fairly pertinent to the events and feelings of the past week. I didn't put them in my web hymnal because they're all in English (though "This Is My Song..." is in the hymnal in Esperanto translation), and in three out of four cases I'm technically violating folks' copyrights (unless this falls under fair use, which I doubt). I do request that anyone making any further use of them at least try to get proper permission. (I have sent emails but no responses to date.) Subject: RE: Gospel Sing 9/11 From: GUEST,Genie Date: 17 Sep 01 - 11:03 PM Mary in Kentucky, I realize that I posted some lyrics to "This Is My Song, O God Of All The Nations" incorrectly. I was going to type a correction, but Liland posted a link to the original lyrics for the first two verses and an alternate third verse. Here are those lyrics: This Is My Song, O God of All the Nations Lloyd Stone, 1992 (stanzas 1 & 2) Georgia Harkness, ca. 1939, alt. (stanza 3) © 1934, 1962, 1964 Lorenz Publishing Co. 2.My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
3.This is my prayer, O Ruler of all nations:
