Nice diversion from the recent tribulations - Just spotted in the Manchester Evening News that Al Stewart is on at the Bury Met. theatre - TONIGHT! I can't make it as I have a meeting already arranged but I thought I'd try to let as many know as I could in the NW of England and how better that the Mudcat!

The evening news describes him as 'Master of M.O.R.' - took me a while but I reckon that must be 'Middle Of the Road?' - bloomin' cheek!

If you can't get into that (Tickets 12 quid btw) - Vin Garbut is on at the same venues 'Little theatre' at the same time. You black pudd eaters get all the luck;-) Tickes for Vin are just 4 quid.

Let us know what either were like if abyone gets there.

Cheers

Dave the Gnome

Just back from the Vin Garbutt concert. It was an excellent show with a bit of everything. Good comedy poweful songs from Vin plus one or two covers. Once song struck me as being brilliant a song by Brian Bedford of Artisan called wings. Does anyone know anything about it?

Vin is well worth seeing live, if you haven't yet make a point of doing so soon.

"What's the use of wings" is the one you want - I think it's been in a thread or in DT. Haven't got time to sort it now, but will check the thread tomorrow and post it if necessary.

Al Stewart is an amazing songwriter and musician. I've got every album he ever recorded, as far as I know. To call him MOR is pretty funny! (They probably thought it would sell tickets...)

One thing I wonder is...does he still believe in Nostradamus' predictions? And does he have a coherent interpretation of them? If so, he's either utterly brilliant or...possibly a little deranged.

Whatever the case, he's still a superb songwriter.

Too late... AND Carthy and Swarb were on at the Railway in Lymmmmm and I didn't get there either! Call me a music lover!?

Had to go house hunting and celebrate over an excellent curry in Middleton... you know it, Dave?
